A jagged stump along the Continental Divide Trail holds a small geocache. The elevation at the cache is 11,662.

At the top of Berthoud Pass, take the trail that starts directly across the highway from the large paved parking lot. This is the Continental Divide Trail which goes along the Continental Divide from Mexico to Canada. Walk west, uphill about 1/2 mile to the cache. Stay on the trail until the last 50 feet or so. To the north of the trail, look for a large, jagged stump. Inside is a painted PVC tube. Only one end can be opened. It is marked with arrows. This is an easy hide.

The elevation is 11,300 feet at the parking lot and 11,662 feet at the cache. The GPS coordinates are only within 35 feet or so.

My body isn't used to hiking at such high altitudes, but a cache is a cache, and as I had already found the one lower down the trail I felt I should go for the one as well. t was actually a fairly easy find for me; the cache title was just about all needed, that and just a little geosense. Good job and TFTC!
