From the time when kids had to walk uphill both ways in a blizzard to go to school, the Yuma historical society has set out to locate and mark as many county schools as possible
I found very little information of District 76 Fox. In 1909 a petition to transfer land from Dist. #88 and make it a part of District #76 was rejected. District # 76 was also mentioned in the Wray Gazette as having Sunday school in the Fox School House. It was also mentioned in the August 27, 1909 Wray Gazette that Mrs. Boyd was to teach three months at Fox.
In 1912 the area of District # 76 Fox was listed as:
The east one-half (½) and sections 4, 9, 16, 21, 28 and 33 of the West one-half (½) of Town 4 South Range 46 West; and sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 Town 5 South Range 46 West.
In 1913 Mr. & Mrs. Ben Payne and Minnie Bohrer and E. Bohrer transferred land from the Fox district to District # 47 Friend.
Later in 1946 the Gerald Duff family transferred from District #47 Friend to the Fox district and the Fergus and Spears families transferred from Fox into District #82J Kirk.
On June 6th 1949 a meeting was held to dissolve District #76 Fox and annex it to District 82J Kirk. 18 were in favor of annexation and 7 were opposed. On the 5th day of July 1949 District #76 Fox was annexed to District 82J Kirk.
