From the time when kids had to walk uphill both ways in a blizzard to go to school, the Yuma historical society has set out to locate and mark as many county schools as possible
The first school was built of sod in 1898. There was 11 students the first year. The first teacher was hired for 3 months and was paid $66/month The last year of the sod school was the 1927-28 school year The Clark School was closed in 1948-49 and moved into Kirk where it still stands
