Italian Pan

The TOP of Italian Creek Road. 12,200ft 4WD a must, or ATV, DirtBike, Mental Imbalance with Mountian Bike.
Getting here is fun and not for the faint of heart. located pretty much in the open under a rock next to a small outcrop. The cache can be readched from either hiway 135 at crested butte south on cement creek road or from the italian creek road off the taylor park road. 17 miles the hard way from crested butte south over reno divide. A few large boulder fields that will dramatically increase your pucker factor. Not fun when wet. Not as far from the taylor side (7 miles) but still a haul.
Cache is a butter cookie tin:

Cache originally contains. An emercency poncho, dog's choke collar, mini sewing kit, small bottle saline solution, mini knife sharpener, Red, White, & Blue Poker Chips(cache is actually on slope of American Flag Mountain, we got there over Reno Divide from Cement Creek), Just say No pin, glow-in-the-dark star, golf tee, small and large marbles, eyeglass cleaning towelettes, Rolling Rock Coasters, polished stones, a wheres george dollar bill and Gone Fishin travel bug.

Grabbed this while in town for the RZR Forum event at Taylor Park. We were out on our own for a last day of riding before making the long haul back to Ohio. After driving to the summit and snapping some pictures of the American flag there we headed back down.
I parked on the trail opposite the cache location but still had a 400' walk to GZ. At this elevation and being from 900' elevation I took my time and stopped once to catch my breath while walking over. I found the container after a short search. It was dry and the log was sign-able. I was the first to sign since 2014. Thanks for placing this cache in such a great location.

TFTC. Trailridge Runners 4WD Club, Pass Hoppers trip 2014. Container does not seal, had water in it. We put in a rubber duck.

Parked halfway up and had a nice stroll over to the cache. Container was full of water, mold and rust - needs some TLC.

I loved this one! Neat ATV ride up Italian Creek, and what a view from the top! TNLNSL, but on the walk back to the parked ATV, found a blue poker chip someone must have dropped, so I guess we got a token anyway...

This was a gorgeous trail that we are so glad we traversed! Reached the summit of American Flag Mountain, but must have missed something when coming back down and looking for the cache because from our reading, the cache was down a steep portion of the mountain and too dangerous for us to attempt. The difficulty was high, so I didn't question it until I saw the log with the photo at the cache point. We should have been able to find it! Hope we come this way again...

Staying in BV for the summer, doing lots of Jeeping. Out for the day catching several along of the 4x4 trails. tftc The cache is actually on American Flag mountain. Try starting up the incline and stopping at the lower end of where the trail becomes two. You head toward the wrecked car, take a peak at it from the cache.
