Needs maintenance

I put the difficulty level at 3.5 stars because the cache really is not that difficult but it is not obvious to the regular passers-by. The terrain, however, is more difficult. There is a steep hill but if you look closely enough there is a rather easy trail to follow.
You are looking for a regular ammo box that has a few things written on the sides in brght orange paint. If you go to the websites above, you can get a little history of the island and the Battle of Beecher Island. This cache is located on the spot where it is said that thte Native American women and children sat and watched the battle take place on the island below. The original contents of the cache include: A logbook and pencil, a Geocache information sheet, a set of Jacks, a Whoopee cushion, a plastic horse, a plastic bison, 2 plastic spiders, a slinky, a jump rope, a plush snake, 2 golf balls, a container of silly putty, and a deck of cards. Please, like always, if you take something, leave something!!

Thanks for bringing us out here. It’s always disappointing when you find a nice big cache and it’s empty with no swag :-(

Did the hike up from the south side, the families would have had a nice view here! Wish there was more than just a marker here. I appreciate that the state had a sign to Beechers Island from 36 but honestly more of pointer to the community than a piece of Colorado history. Not having a good marker at the battlefield is also a weakness of the state. It is interesting with the sign that’s there but honestly nothing that readily tells the tale of Beechers Island. Guess I’ll have to reread Dee Browns account. Appreciate the hide!
