Scenic view  Medium hike (1km-10km)

Located on top of Little Eagle's Nest Mountain at 9390 ft. Back side of mountain is a grass covered slope that takes about thirty minutes to climb. You can park a car along the dirt road by the abandoned horse stables and climb from there.
To get to the cache, you will need to park your car along the dirt road off the highway (make sure to drive past the first cattle guard) and climb up the back side of the mountain (the steeper front side is private property.) The climb should be a somewhat long grass covered slope that takes about 20 to 40 minutes to climb depending on your physical condition. Once there, take a break and enjoy the great view of the valley.

Looking towards the highway:
Directly below is the Eagle's Nest cabin park where we have a cabin that we vacation in each year. At the bottom of the mountain to your right, the old wagon trains went thru the small cut between Little Eagle's Nest and the next mound. You can still see the wheel ruts crossing the fields and continuing up Seepage Creek Valley to your back right.

Looking to your left:
You will see Eagle's Nest Mountain. Named after the eagle's nest that is visible 1/3 the way down the cliff face from the higest point. The nest was a Bald Eagle's nest that is over 100 years old; unfortunately, it has been unoccupied for as long as anyone I know knows.

The cache contains a log book and was started with the following contents: a little plastic lizard, a little plastic green fish, a finger board, and a piece of amethyst found in Creede.

CONGRATULATIONS TO J&K FOR THE FTF.

In Creede for the week and doing some cache checking. The cache is still there and in good shape. By the way, the eagle's nest is now occupied.

Hiked up there with a horde of kids and family. Looked like we were having a 5 year old's birthday party-the only thing missing was the cup cakes.

Woo Hoo after a couple of years eye-balling this cache, we finally had everyone together and made time to try it. Props to mommy who made it half way up in sandals. Make sure you wear real shoes when attempting. My sister and her oldest and myself and my oldest were the final 4 to make it to the cache. Cant explain how beautiful it is with pictures. Have to see it for yourself. tftc

Got up and down in about 24 minutes, and managed not to get zapped by lightning. TNLNSL, TFTC.

I took the kids up here this year. They were excited to "climb a mountain." Cache is still in good shape.

Omg! Hardest terrain we have tackled for a geocache! We don't have Mountains like this at sea level in Charleston SC!!!! Lovely view SL TFTC!

We made the mistake of heading straight upwards from the stable, when walking a few feet back towards the highway would have revealed the cairn that marks the best point of ascent. On the way up, we spotted a young bear running away from us. We were a little worried about encountering Mama Bear, but when we saw him still sprinting away in the distance, we felt OK to finish the climb. What great views! Thanks for leading us to such a scenic place.

OMG what a climb for an out of shape 70 year old low lander woman - guess we shd have looked for an easier path we did not park at the stables but a ways before you got to it and it was quite rocky. Coming down I lost my footing and slid about 20 feet on my rear on small pebbles. I was not hurt and very proud of myself for making the climb. Well worth it once you got there with a beautiful panoramic view and five bighorn sheep. TFTC and the challenge.

Enjoyed the walk up to the cache and the drive in. The cache was very easy to find and is in good condition. Saw 12 sheep in one group today and yesterday, the same sheep both days. Thanks for the cache.
