Came all the way from western Nebraska looking forward to finding this geocache via swim. Park Ranger would have nothing to do with it- he says swimming is not allowed. The feller pulling out with his boat didn't flash as pretty of a smile as the ranger- so therefore, we didn't ask him for a ride in his very "purdy" boat. So tootles to Elkhead for now.

Returned via sailboat (remembering to bring a pen this time) and signed the log.

Well, I wasn't certain whether I'd swim or use my inflatable kayak for this interesting cache placement, and I'll keep you in suspense by not indicating here what my final decision was. Sort of adds to the adventure options for future seekers! Based on the log by Adamsfamily777, I brought an extra cache container with me, just in case the temporary replacement they made was insufficient. Actually, it turns out to be a "perfect" container for this cache. A good size, totally water tight, and very durable. I signed the log and placed it exactly where it had been, in its "cave over water". And then I added some support material to keep it from possibly rolling downhill and causing a splash! This is a great cache concept and placement, and I'm grateful to kd0ftc for making the hide and owning this fine cache.

I had some clear personal involvement in the assessment work that preceded development of this reservoir back in the early 1970s, and some day I might add a log note here that explains why and how the overall project was conceived and evaluated. For now, I'll simply indicate that Cave Over Water is a neat place!
