The Three Sons of Fortune

ˇ         A father leaves each of his sons something simple: a rooster, a scythe, and a cat. But he advises them to seek a land where these things are unknown in order to make their fortunes.

ˇ         The first son finds a land where nobody knows how to keep time so they buy the rooster from him for a large sum.

ˇ         The same happens to the second son, who sells the scythe to a bunch of folks who have no clue how to harvest grain.

ˇ         When the third son finds a cat-less land infested with mice, the people gladly buy his cat. But since they've never seen a cat before, they get spooked when it meows.

ˇ         Figuring the cat to be hostile, they level the castle trying to destroy it (don't fear, animal lovers—the cat escapes safely).

#709. While staying in Black Hawk Colorado, I wanted to try and find a cache above 3000 metres or more above sea level which was accessible without too much work. This was the highest one I could find, unfortunately, it came in at 2922 metres. That's not too bad though, that means I earn the Ruby "Head-In-The-Clouds Award" on project-gc.com! If I could have found one above 3000 metres, I would have got the sapphire badge.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, see here https://project-gc.com/ProfileStats/nzseries1#BadgeGen I like collecting the badges, it gives my geocaching meaning!

I was a bit worried about being spotted by the nearby houses, although I managed to find it relatively fast, signed it and got out of there.

Thank you very much for the cache!

After spending yesterday visiting Mount Rushmore, my mission today was to drive back to Colorado picking up any virtual and webcam caches that were on the way (and this one, for a specific mission). All were successful, there were no DNFs (no surprise though for Virtuals and Webcams I suppose). Thank you to all the cache owners for the caches and for maintaining them! Where necessary, answers have been supplied to the cache owner using Geocaching's "Send Email" function.

Found some caches near Central city today.
Wanted to be there before the snow.
But DNF'd some because of snow on the ground.
Found this one.

Second visit to this one. Didn't have much time the first go around. Now that I've seen a couple in this series it was a quick find. TFTC

I had a harder time spotting that one. I'll blame it on the rain!

Thanks, RubiconNomad! I like this series. I thought that this would be a good morning to go up into the mountains for some caches. I was here a couple weeks ago near Nederland, and I wanted to go up Caribou Road some more with the Forester. Unfortunately I found the road closed at one point, so I walked until the snow-ice ridges across the road got to be too much, so I will have to come back here later in the summer. So I went north into Gilpin County where the roads were open to finish my morning. I run a pocket query of the area so I always have plenty of caches to look for, and I do not depend on my phone. I love it around here.
