Country: United States | State: Colorado
Coordinates: N40° 43.176 W105° 18.939 | Last updated: 08/30/2019 | Fav points: 3
Dogs  Dangerous Animals  Abandoned mines  Bicycles  No Stealth required  Needs maintenance  Medium hike (1km-10km)

Longer then two mile hike, with small elevation changes. Cache is a Tupperware container that is camouflaged. Almost zero bushwacking needed.
This is a nice hike that offers views of Greyrock Mountain (Correction: Dan's Mt). The cache location is a pleasant location to stop and grab a lunch (when the mosquitoes are not fierce) if you wish to continue to explore the area.

Note, suggested parking is at N 40 41.288 W 105 18.810 This is a private bridge, but you will note the sign granting permission to use this road to access the forest land beyond. Please stick to the road until your on public land.

Actually I found out about this trail from a mountain biking friend of mine, and is a good starting trail before hitting the more difficult trails in the area. The elevation changes are small for a trail in Poudre Canyon, but is still a good hike or bike ride.

When I get a chance I will place a camera in the cache. I totally spaced it and did not notice I had forgot until I got home!

  • Items at the time of placement were:
  • Topo USA 3.0, The Mountain States edition
  • VHS Movie "Bull Durham"
  • VHS Movie "No Way Out"
  • Cache-note, Logbook & Pencil.

Great hike with a group of friends. I was the only cacher, but I got some help scrambling around on the rocks. It took me a bit, but I finally found this one!

I've hiked Hewlett Gulch before, but this was the first time I hunted for some of the caches there. The weather and trail conditions were great on this late Saturday afternoon. Container has some cracks, but everything inside seems ok. TFTC!

great spot! Left our GPS at home but knew there was a cache around here, found it pretty quickly. Thank you :)

Thanks for the cache! Wanted an easier hike to get warmed up for the season, and this seemed like a good choice. Very nice day out, not too cold, not too hot. Creek was running low enough that I made it almost all the way to the cache before getting a foot wet. Made the find harder than it needed to be, despite the accurate coordinates. Enjoyed seeing the original logbook, it is around half full after 14 years. The container is broken, as noted in some older logs, and also has a neat hole melted into the side from the fire. Everything inside is in good condition though.
Where I had lunch, close to the cache

Out caching with estrek on a spectacular day. Hard to believe it is the 9th of February. Dazzling blue skies free of clouds and temps in the 60s. We had a great day of hiking the gulch and picking up a few caches. The cache is in good condition. SL

Out caching with Cacheman48 on a PERFECT day. The temperature was 37º when we started out, but warmed up very quickly. The sky was blue with nary a cloud in sight. Met a lot of friendly two- and four-legged people taking advantage of the beautiful weather. Found the cache after a brief search. Canyons can be tricky on GPSr's. SL TFTC

This is my last cache out here for today. Thanks for the fun find! It was a cold day and grey rock mountain was hidden behind clouds and fog by the time I got here. I was partially frozen and my nerve pain started kicking in making me need to turn around near here but I appreciate all the caches on or near the fun trail! This is my first time here and I'll definitely be back in the warmer months!
