Along a 4-wheel drive road west and north of Redfeather CO.This is a cache for you die hard cachers. This is a 4-wheel drive road in Chicken Park. There are two caches that we have planted, along this road, so try to enjoy both of them. We definately suggest that you do have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We also recommend that you DO NOT attempt this journey during wet weather. It's a fun trip, but truly, be fully aware of what you are getting yourself into.
We appologize about the limited availablilty of these caches. The drive is worth it, and the country is beautiful. The county lists service roads (which we believe this road falls beyond this category, as it is not maintained during the winter) as closed from November until May. We have seen openings as late as June and closures as early as October. Beware.
FYI-There are two gates, at the top and bottom of the road. They may or may not be closed. There are three additional gates along the road. Please open and close the gates. The "guard cow" need to protect the caches and they do not understand that they must stay in their location to thoroughly perform their duties. (We will have a further chat with them when we are up there again.)
During the closure times, we believe that you can access Chicken Park. Die hard hikers, EXTREME mountain bikers, and cross country skiers can access the caches. From the gate closures we think it is between 3 to 4 miles of trail. There are other caches in area, look for and enjoy them as well!
Have fun, enjoy, and happy hunting. Please re-hide very well.
