Nice jaunt on a beautiful trail just 2 miles from Lake City.
Wild raspberries, strawberries, columbine, wild geranium, bluebells, mountain alder, red osier dogwood, baneberry, twinberry, elderberry, cow parsnip, spruce, fir ... the list goes on. Beautiful, lush riparian vegetation along Alpine Creek.

Drive, bike, or walk about two miles west of Lake City towards Capital City on the Engineer Pass Road to the Alpine Gulch Trailhead. Cross Henson Creek on the bridge and head up Alpine Gulch. Cache is within 20 feet of trail. Cache is old BPA water bottle. Contains log book and small treasures. Please re-hide well as it is close to the trail.

Reception down in Alpine Gulch isn't the greatest. I was getting 5 satellites and +/- 26ft on my eTrex at the location and not as good at other spots along the trail. See hints if necessary.

 Hints

Cache is under a fairly obvious bit of log between the first and second creek crossings on hikers left once the trail enters a nice stand of mature spruce.

The area the cache is supposed to be has several fallen trees the cache might be no longer accessible.

We suspect the cache has been muggled. The hike here was well worth the visit.

Well, CB_Beauty and I had a great hike out to the area. Our creek crossing was a bit more hairy than other pictures. I am 98% sure we found the hide location, a carved out log section, but no cache container.

Tried to find twice. Got hailed with pee to marble size hail the second time. I'm thinking someone took it cause we spent lots of time looking for it.
