Welcome to the Danny Dietz Cache

Danny Dietz
Please respect this spot! To help preserve the area, I'm going to just come out and tell you the cache is in-between the flag pole and the cement. This may change as time goes, but this will do for now.

Littleton unveiled a statue of Danny Dietz in this park so future generations can see a hero and remember his courage. Danny grew up just up the hill west of here and walk by this very spot on his way to Centennial elementary school to the east of here.

For Danny Dietz, heroism meant laying down his life for his duty and country. Badly wounded and outnumbered, he fought off Taliban fighters for 45 minutes to defend three other SEALs on a mountainside in Afghanistan. Three members of Dietz's team, sent to kill a Taliban militia leader, also died. Dietz's efforts let one of his team escape. His body was recovered on the Fourth of July 2005.

I viewed the hint and couldn’t find it there. Maybe it’s been removed by someone else due to Memorial Day decorations around it

Well, nerak2001 said she had found this a while back, but seems to be missing now. May want to check on it.

I found this cache over six years ago. I can still remember sitting down talking to Danny and thanking him for hi sacrifice. RIP Danny

Out and about caching on the west side of town with @intrepiidexplorer. Sobering reminder of the price others have paid for our safety and freedom. Beautiful memorial. TFTC!

What a wonderful site for a geocache. Being from out-of-town, I'm pretty sure I'd never have seen this tribute sans geocaching. Wow. Found cache itself quickly then read and contemplated the site. Will give this a "Favorite" point and hopefully help draw even more 'cachers to seek this cache and view the site.
