An Ammo Can hidden near a historic railway trestle.
Ok. It doesn't have any rails on it these days, but The Trout Lake Trestle that you see in front of you was part of Colorado's narrow guage railway system that served mining towns in this area. It is now designated as an historic landmark, and was recently refurbished so that it can continue to be enjoyed by all of us for years to come.

Take the 145 to Trout Lake Rd. You can drive straight in to within a few feet of the cache, but you might consider parking by the lake and riding a bike in. If you do, you can also continue on up past the cache and around the lake to Lizard Head Pass. It's uphill, but not too bad - Just enough that you won't have to pedal much on the way back down.

As I've placed the cache, it conained a bevy of wonderous swag items including:

A glow bracelet
A mini screwdriver set
A potholder from a failed CA political campaign
A survival whistle/compass
A novelty bath scrubber
A fish flashlight

A Sacagewea Buck for the FTF

And a Hula Girl

Special thanks to SoloSue and Team GeoTandB who were along as I placed the cache, and to 2JeepersCreepers who've generously offered to help watch over it.

Very interesting spot. Took a little bit with only having cords and size to help. Had to wait out a group of cyclers coming across the bridge. Good hide and container! TFTCSLTNLN

What an interesting place, we love these kind of hides! We found it and signed the log, put some toys inside and re-hid the cache. We met a couple of nice gals who wanted to know about Geo-caching and we introduced them to it all. They were excited and I think they will start Geo-caching, too! Thanks so much for bringing us here!!

TFTC! Super fun find! My kids and I enjoyed finding this one and seeing the area. Took some swag and left some of our own. Picked up a cute trackable.

Gorgeous trestle! We hiked to Hope Lake, today. Then, decided to grab this one when we finished despite the rain. It was a quick find and it is in perfect condition. Thanks so much for bringing us to this cool place!

I picked this one up while in the local area during the end of the June transition month for what I called the "Freeze and Fry Run"...snivel cold at night and in the morning, sun beating hot in the afternoon. I had to go to Cortez, CO to pick up some old friends from New Jersey to act as their tour guide while enroute to DIA. Of course, I was trying to hike and pick up a few caches before they arrived. I decided to give this one a try because it looked fun and had a decent D/T rating. I was grateful to make the find after a short hunt and without too much drama. I enjoyed the view and the hunt. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.

Caches like these are why we do this. Thanks for bringing us to a place we might not have seen otherwise. Swapped travel bugs. TFTC

Last day of the trip. Had to get a Colorado cache, and this was first choice. Grew up near a narrow guage trestle in N. Calif, which was unfortunately burned down by some nut. This is beautiful. TFTC!
