This cache is dedicated to a great cowboy, hunter, mountain man and all-around adventurer, Sonny Smith (1928-2013). Sonny first visited the South Fork area as a young boy in the 1930s and passed his love for this beautiful region on to the 2nd, 3rd and now 4th generations of our family. He was an expert mason and even built a few of the fireplaces/chimneys that you can spot in the valley from this cache.

A short but somewhat steep hike up the side of the mountain will lead you to the cache, tucked under the overhang of a large rock. Good luck and happy geocaching!

We attempted to find this cache. We got all the way up the super steep mountain side and couldn’t find it! I would be wary to anyone from a lower elevation the hike was pretty strenuous and very tricky with the uneasy rocks. Hope the next person has better luck than us!
