Driving a small car so we made the 1 mile round trip walk to the cache site from a parking area nearby. The roads are extremely dry and powdery and we ended up covered with a layer of dirt from all the off-road vehicles driving by us. The weather was good and we did not see any critters so it was a good find all in all. Dropped a TB and took one to move along. SL. Thanks for maintaining the oldest Colorado cache!

Started the day climbing Paul Barclay Stash. Back into town to grab some food and on my way to Tarryall. Beautiful drive. Takes a little over an hour. Was able to drive to within 500'. Road was dry. Even if the road were in bad condition, it's only about a 1/2 mile walk from the parking area adjacent to CR77. Although I must admit, walking at 9000' is a lot harder than at 1200'. Quickly found the big container. Signed the log. Took some photos. Grabbed a TB. Plan to take it to Potters Pond next week. Earns a fav. TFTC

Trobat! Second old cache on this trip. We were able to drive within 700 feet of the cache. Glad we had the Cachly offline maps. Lots of fun flowers on the way. Grabbed a trackable to move to the N.C. Coast.
Thanks for keeping Tarryall going. Adding a favorite point. And TFTC.

Found on 7/1/19 on my way with my wife to West Virginia to watch my grandson play baseball. We came from Woods Cross Utah and 500 miles later we arrived found as described. Only two more caches to earn my Jasmer. Favorite.

Our family is on vacation in Colorado. We spent a couple of days in Colorado Springs. I had this cache on my list while in Colorado, but it was too far for me to get it in a day trip from Colorado Springs. With the winter storm moving in today, I expected that I may have to abort an excursion for it. We planned to drive as far as we could, and if it became too risky we would turn around.
From Colorado Springs there were only traces of snow. Once we hit the 8,000-foot elevation, that's when snow started to appear in greater amounts. The Tarryall Road itself was mostly snow-covered with up to an inch or two, but still not a major concern.
We finally arrived at the turnoff / parking area about a half-mile from the cache. No one else was around, of course, and there was 1-2 inches of snow in the lot. Not knowing the road ahead, I immediately planned to hike in the snow from there rather than risk having car issues further in.
While my wife and son stayed in the car to pass the time, I geared up for winter hiking. I was soon on my way, testing all spots ahead in the snow with my trekking pole. Due to the cold (18 F), there was no snowmelt and the ground was dry underneath. That was great, because I didn't have to deal with slippery mud. I soon left the trail and after a hike cross-country I arrived at GZ. I spotted the cache right away. (Who can miss a large orange 5-gallon bucket in the snow? Even when covered well...)
I took several pictures, signed the log, and took a TB to move on. It was still snowing fairly well. After re-sealing the cache and hiding it, I started back. It was easy to backtrack using my tracks in the snow.
On the way back I left the trail to visit the original hiding place and see if I could find the micro. I took my time climbing up the short hill -- to test my footage and also because the elevation here was 8,590 feet according to my altimeter. (I was not acclimated to this elevation yet, and got winded from any extra extertion.) Great view from that spot! After a while, I did find it. I was proud of myself -- finding a micro in the woods, and in snow! I noticed the names on the log were a lot shorter than the new one.
I then trekked back to the car where my family was waiting. Thanks for maintaining this old cache!
Recommendation for future cachers: Park at the lot and walk the half-mile to the cache. I don't think many vehicles will make it on that trail until it's a 4WD with a good clearance. If there's mud, it definitely won't happen. It's an easy 1-mile roundtrip hike, unless you have some challenges (like snow in my case).

Our second big trip this year. This time more mid country hunting for the oldest caches in the states. Our trip started in Kansas City, MO and continued through Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, the most NW corner of Texas, New Mexico to culminate in Colorado. It rained all day first three days but that did not stop us to accomplish our goals and some. Colorado Springs welcomed us with the snow and below freezing temperatures. But the hunt must go on... Maggie :) and I enjoyed this beautiful country, the scenery, the animals, the food and friendly people.

If we only got here 10 min earlier we would have avoided the snow. In either case the oldie was found. The road for too iffy for the Rouge so we walked in .4. TFTC.

I drove as far as I could on this narrow dirt road then hiked the rest of the way. Huge container with lots of room for swag. I was planning on leaving a travel bug here but it looks like this one, like MINGO in Kansas, are TB black holes, none of the listed bugs are in the cache, just an empty bag with the paperwork for the traveling hat travel bug. Signed the book and left a Dairy Queen carabiner.

Ahhh Tarryall. We finally got you. This after an aborted attempt in mid-April and we didn’t make it out of a major winter storm in Nebraska. I told my husband I wasn’t willing to try again unless we flew (we live in Chicago) and went in summer or early fall. This is our anniversary weekend and the weather is great (if not a tad warm) and it worked out well. Shocked to see 50 miles as the crow flies worked out to 125 in reality and 2 hour car ride from Denver. Crazy adventure and saw lots of beautiful sights on our quest to the middle of nowhere. Favorite point of course!

#6,400 - Mini milestone. What better way to celebrate the two year wedding anniversary with my wife (whom I met in the first place due to Geocaching), then by us simultaneously achieving Double Jasmer on my Mini milestone. Beautiful area.

I saw this was over here when we were going to visit family and decided to take the trip over to find Colorado's oldest. I'm a flatlander these days so it was a little intense. Some of the family drove out with us and we enjoyed the walk and cache! We will return some day so the wife can sign too. Thanks for an oldie!
Chock full of toys and trackables!

We did it we found the oldest cache in Colorado. We did this on International Geocaching Day, August 18th 2018. Out with Sproutsnana, grammydoll and ladybuglooking. This was our destination. Of course now we have to go find more geocaches because it is about finding geocaches, you know. Sproutsnana replaced the container because the lid was leaking on the other one. This will be the subject of one of my speeches in an upcoming Toastmasters meeting.

9:50 a.m. 8 18 18. Found the oldest cash in Colorado. Treacherous ride. Lid to bucket changed out. Cleaned out of garbage swag. Obviously wet inside. Whole new bucket. Thank you mr. Frazier for the hide. It was a joy to find this cash. A lot of travel bugs inside and one extra left behind.

#1215 I was on my way from Colorado Springs to Estes Park so I made a detour to do this old cache. Like the last person said the lid is cracked and it lets in water sorry I was not able to replace. This is also part of my cross country road trip that I started on July 23rd. I picked up three TBs that I will give some miles.

A primary objective of our Colorado visit was to get this oldest cache in the state. Also to make a milestone for me, my 3000 cache. Drove the rental up the road and tried very hard not to get stuck in the sandy ruts. Must have made a scene since the cattle all watched us with a wary eye.
The lid is broken and it seems that someone tried to fix it with duct tape... but even that has its limitations. The cache needs a new orange lid from Home Depot. Otherwise any #3000snow melt will certainly fill it up!
TFTC #3000 baby!

Just realized that I have found the oldest cache in four different states with BriGuy.
THEY got stuck in the muddy water, I thought we should look before driving into it. (Them kids) But we finally got out. Then the rains poured down, but a find is a find.
Hey, I'm the old man in the BriGuy photo. Where's LAMBS in the photo, oh, someone had to take the photo.
Found with the SWAC crew. - Best Wishes, DustyRiver
