Visit an old settlement, of which there is little information.
I noticed the Greenwood Settlement on a map some time ago, but could not find very much information about it. It took me two tries to find it, but I think I've made it easier for cachers.
You can approach this cache from a couple of different directions: via the Mt Muscoco trail off of the Mt Cutler trail, from the Daniels Pass trail off of N. Cheyenne Canyon Rd, or the other end of the Daniels Pass trail off of Gold Camp Road. The hike from N. Cheyenne Canyon Rd is probably the shortest, but it is quite steep and slippery, and will require you to cross the stream, which may not be possible depending on the run-off.
If you decide to go from N. Cheyenne Canyon Rd, go up the road past the Mt Cutler trailhead until you see the 2 mile marker (about 1/2 mile from Mt. Cutler). There will be a wide spot to park on the uphill side of the road, and smaller place to park on the downhill side. From the parking area on the downhill side, walk down to the creek side, and look for a convenient place to hop the rocks to the other side. BE CAUTIOUS if the creek is running fast and/or deep. The rocks are slippery and you may be swept off your feet.
Once on the other side, you'll find the trail heading up hill. Continue to where the trail intersects with the Muscoco Trail, and then continue across the trail and continue south. The trail is easy to find from the intersection, and once you're about .14 miles down, look for the trail forking to the right. From here, the trail is not always very obvious due to being quite over grown. I flagged the more difficult parts of the trail with red flagging tape, so watch for it (and hope it doesn't get taken down). Keep following the trail for a little over a mile, and you'll be rewarded. The total round trip hike from N. Cheyenne Canyon Rd is around 3.75 miles. Add about a mile if you come from Mt. Cutler.
The cache is a medium sized "lock and lock" style container.
There is no cell phone coverage on 99% of this trail, so if you have any questions, etc, ask before you go.
Above all else, have fun!

CONGRATS TO HARTSDALE FOR THE FTF!

Found this neat hide while attending a geocaching event at the settlement. Very neat area and so peaceful and quiet. We really enjoyed our time there and the geocache was a bonus!

Finally came back out to this one. Decided to bring a replacement container and trackable. Fully stocked, and added all of the swag and original log to the new container.

Good to go! Thanks again for the awesome hike!

Parking at pull out 21 and made the trek over to this one. This was my 4th time to hike up this trail and it was the most difficult yet. I am out of shape. Thanks for bring me here. I wish I knew what its history is. TFTC.

I was heading to the event but didn't think I was on the right trail as it was taking me away so I started brush busting up & over many ridges for .4 miles. What a mistake! Stay on the trail and it bends back towards the settlement. Thanks for replacing the container.
NOTE:I'm pretty sure I left my hiking pole down at the concrete & rock wall. I'm sure another hiker will probably find it but just in case a cacher goes in & finds it please contact me through my profile. I would greatly appreciate it!
