Congratulations! You’ve found a geocache that is one of a series from the Grand County Water Tour!

Parking for this traditional Cache is located at the Radium Recreation Area. Going west on US Highway 40 turn left onto US Highway 9 (at the only traffic light in Kremmling). Next, turn right onto County Road 1 and continue 14.5 miles before turning right onto County Road 11. Continue for 2.3 miles to the Radium Recreation Center. This geocache is not handicap accessible

This cache is hidden around 500 feet from the kiosk in the willows. Beware of goffer holes.

DID YOU KNOW???

1. You are currently along the Colorado River within the Radium State Wildlife Area controlled by the Bureau of Land Management.

2. Many travelers come here to fish for rainbow trout, brown trout and brook trout due to their abundance in these deeper, cooler and more pristine waters. In years of drought the waters become warmer, making it more difficult for these cold-water fish to survive.

3.  The recreation area was named after the element (Radium) which was mined in Colorado in the early 20th century. Today the area is used primarily for livestock and other ranching.

Interesting spot for a cache. Followed the two track back out to the highway, good stuff!

Found it -- kind of a bummer for us because we love finding ammo cans and all of the fun stuff inside --NOT with this one! This one was pretty bare -- had to really look to find the single sheet of paper we figured was the "log". After reading other log entries on here -- when getting back to cell service -- I'm guessing it's due to the fact that part of the springtime this cache is under water and things don't survive?!? Well then, why not move it, or better adapt it? Seems silly to have an empty ammo can! So much potential-- and nothin!! Moving on....

Out exploring this beautiful area and the river. Decided to grab this one and watch some drift boat fisherman catching fish. Walked right by it the first time, but found it with a little more thorough search. Brought along a new paper for the log, so it is good to go.

Needs maintenance. Log book disintegrated due to water. Unfortunately, I did not have replacement log. This is a very cool cache, but needs some love!
