Congratulations! You’ve found a geocache that is one of a series from the Grand County Water Tour!

WARNING: There is NO cellular service in this area. Plan ahead by saving this cache in service prior to your hike or us a GPS specific device.

Parking for this traditional Cache is at the end of Pump House road (a dirt road). From US Highway 9 take County Road 1 for 10.4 miles and turn right onto Pump House road. Follow this dirt road 1.1 miles to the kiosk (there is a small fee) and stay right for .3 more miles until you reach the parking lot.

This cache is hidden approximately 1.2 miles down Gore Canyon Trail. Proceed with caution, as some parts of the trail are slightly eroded. While along the trail continue past the pedestrian bridge and stay right. You will find the geocache round a bend along the ridgeline.

GOREGOUS view of the Colorado River. Worth the walk!

DID YOU KNOW???

1. You are currently in the Gore Canyon, which was carved by the Colorado River and is part of the Gore Range. This mountain range extends for about 60 miles through Grand and Summit counties and parts of eastern Routt and Eagle counties.

2. The floor of the Gore Canyon is at about 7,200 feet in elevation while the edges on both sides are higher than 9,300 feet in elevation. That’s a difference of over 2,100 feet which is the same as 235 African Elephants standing on top of each other!

3. The Gore Range was named after Sir George Gore an Irish baronet (of noble ranking), who visited the area in the 1850s while on hunting expeditions.

Bummer, no luck today! Looked around in the rocks along the trail and even climbed up the slope and looked around. This one may be gone if it is truly a 1 difficulty.

FTF!!!!!

First FTF of 2014. Can't believe it took this long for it to be found. The beginning of the trail is in rough shape. Don't bring the kids till the water goes down. Trail along the river had a lot of Gopher snakes on it.
