A boat makes this cache easier to find, but you can walk around Hidden Lake from the camp ground too. Find the tree along the shore with the birdhouse, the trail to Ross Reservoir is thirty feet to the north.

Well....that was interesting.

After spending the night in the high country by SOUVENIR CACHE, I drove over to this one, but I guess I took the hard way. Before stopping last night, I noticed a sign showing "CO HWY 14 -->" so I figured I'd take that route home. So that's where I started. And from there, well, let's just say it was interesting. The GPS had roads on it that weren't actually there, and the GPS has pretty low standards for what it calls a "road". Let's just say some of them aren't made for a Focus.

And I took one of them. I can't exactly tell you what led up to me getting on this road, but I wound up on Routt National Forest Road 620, and took that all the way to CR-1 (just south of the cache). I wouldn't recommend taking a passenger car down it....but I did. :-)

Once arriving at the campground, I parked and huffed around the lake. I think I had a little adrenalyn pumping from the impromptu 4x4ing I did, because I was hauling to GZ. Once there, the find was made pretty quick, and I enjoyed the surroundings while signing the logbook.

The hike back took a bit longer, as I had settled down a bit by then. But thanks for the cache and the cool location!

Great cache for myself and my 8 yr old son. Considerable bushwacking and LOTS of mosquitos! TFTC! Orswell Clan.
