Following Wolf Creek, mostly shady trek of about 2 1/4 miles and 1,100 elevation increase. This trek is a nice , mostly comfortable 2 1/4 mile trek following Wolf Creek. About the most you'll ever stray away from the creek would be about 50 feet. A gradual climb over the hike, you'll start at about 7300 and venture up to about 8450. The trail continues on beyond the cache site. Up to the cache, you really won't encounter any major landmarks to speak of but the mostly shady, casual climb is reward enough.
This was a hastily put together cache since I only had about 20 minutes notice to get ready for a hike but inside this shoebox sized clear plastic container with the blue lid you'll find a few McDonald's collectibles (Animal Alley's "Riggley" and Ty Beenie "Flitter the Butterfly") a small Match Box "type" race car, an enameled Colorado lapel pin, a couple of 50 cent pieces and a few other small goodies. I was in such a hurry to get dressed, get my pack together, get the cache together and grab the camera that I neglected to print out the Geocaching "notice" that I usually place in my caches so if anyone feels obliged to bring out a copy for inclusion I would be very grateful.
As far as terrain goes this would be a pretty nice hike to take the kids out on, keeping in mind the length of the jaunt.
Enjoy yourself, always be safe and remember - cache in - trash out. Have Fun

05/29/2012 By chefstern This is quite the trail. My bike was running better this year so it was time to stop and find this one. TFTC!

08/08/2010 By slushpupie Went with TbearKline, was a nice hike (though a bit long). Left TB, took Super Glue to fix my broken sunglasses.
08/08/2010 By TbearKline It was a challenging hike because of the loose rock and incline. Parked about a half mile from the trail head because the road was washed out a bit too much for the car (a truck would have made it ok). Also encountered 6 motorbikes going up and down. They all slowed down and several stopped for us to pass.
A great trail for photos and hiking a couple of hours. I was very glad the cache was not too difficult to find, getting good GPS signals in the valley took a little patience.
