Hermit Park Open Space is a public park managed by Larimer County Natural Resources.  Please note that there is a $9 entry fee unless you have a valid Larimer County Parks Pass.

Hermit Park was once a working cattle ranch as well as a private retreat for Hewlett Packard before being purchased by the county.  The hike to the top of Kruger Rock is one of the highlights of the park.  The Kruger Rock trailhead is located inside of Hermit Park, but the trail soon enters US Forest Service land, where this cache is hidden.  The cache is hidden slightly off-trail near one of the overlooks, which offers a sweeping view of Longs Peak and the Continental Divide.

There is a limited amount of parking at the trailhead.  Additional parking, as well as drinking water, is available on the opposite side of the access road near the large pavilion.

On our way back from Kruger Rock, we left the trail to find this one. Without any hint, this was not an easy find, but the coordinates were very precise.

Found it. My gps kept saying it was within about 5 feet and I couldn't see it. Finally dropped down to the next level of rocks and my gps said it was 19 feet to the southeast. Turned around and looked and by golly there was the place that looked like it should hide a cache. And it was. Cache is in great shape. Signed the log and replaced the cache. Thanks jrj1980 for the hide.

It's a good thing we headed out early for this one; by the time we got back, the small parking lot was full. There were more great views from this spot, but Longs was hiding behind some clouds. Lots of people coming up on the way back.
