Finally made it to the end of the trail at the reservoir. It is a rough, rocky road all the way in, no breaks. Plenty of solitude here. Thanks for the adventure today.

A long bumpy road with a lot of switchbacks. It took quite awhile to get back to town, I was hurrying to beat the black clouds. Got a few rain drops but not much. Somewhere I broke one of the front leaf springs but still made it back ok. On the way down I met a Ford station wagon coming up, he was hoping there was another way out, the way he came in was to rocky for his car. Good lu8ck on finding another way that is better!! TFTC

FTF 4:25 pm. Took agate - left 9-11 memorial medallion. We REALLY ENJOYED the outing, 4 wheeling, and seeing some of the water works of Delta City as well as a good reason to go to the high country! TFTC SL GETS A FAV for the effort it took to place these easy hides!
WOW! WHAT A DRIVE! These three new caches up at the end of Pipeline Rd should be called the "Energizer Series!" The ROUGH road just keep Going, and Going, and . . . . . ! We were casting about yesterday evening for what to cache for today and happened to notice some new "Greenies" mixed in all our smileys, expanded map out and realized that there were SIX and ALL were waiting for an FTF! We KNEW what we would be doing today! Had just grabbed Sheep Camp a few weeks ago so had (we thought!) an idea of road conditions so mapped out all six knowing we might have to walk some and/or come in from the bottom for 2 or 3. My 4x4 CrewCab long bed diesel is in the shop (used for Sheep Camp) and am driving a borrowed Chevy S10 4x4 that am not familiar with but we took off hoping to get at least the upper 4 caches. WOW! It took us 4 hrs to get from Delta to Intersection 113! Granted, we were not pushing it, taking pictures, looking at flowers and scenery, and the front axle would not lock into 4x4 when in low range so had a lot of difficulty early on. Even so, I spent a LOT of time walking ahead scouting a line through the boulders, and moving a LOT of rock falls (tons, literally!) but only had to stack rocks once, at the cattle guard into the forest land - (at this point, after crawling under vehicle finally got the front diff to lock in - 2 WD all the way to there? a minor miracle! - although at one point I did put it in 4 HI and made a run at one section slipping the clutch all the way, NOT GOOD!) After Intersection 113 we spent a full hour getting the 2.3 mi to Delta Dam#3. We were unwilling to risk getting stuck crossing the outflow creek so walked the remaining .9 mile by foot in 20 minutes - Faster mph than the drive! (realize that this totals 3.2 miles - straight line = 1.5 miles!)
From there we drove back to the Intersection and around the mountain side to the top of the trail down into "RUN BAMBI RUN!" We took ONE LOOK at the "Road?" and knew we would have to walk the short distance in and give up trying for "Hidden Creek" as we were FAST running out of daylight hours to get off the mountain and could get it from the bottom (Tomorrow!) We logged Bambi at 6:20, in the truck at 6:45 and reached Delta Bridge at 9:15 - 2.5 hrs down the mountain pushing it! Had to stop and roll boulders out of the way 2-3 additional times but had the track line figured out, 4x4 working, gravity assist, and made much better time then going up. TOTAL TIME = 10 hrs - TOTAL MILES = 43 (w walking) - Straight line distance from Delta to each cache and back = 22.3 miles
p.s. Silverheels has stated that it is possible to get a 4x4 TRUCK up here, we have just proven that point but I, having done some serious 4x4 in my time, do not advise it unless you just like destroying your vehicle. A "lifted" light weight 4x4 with aired down balloon tires? Piece of cake! - beyond that would advise ATV or horse. I would not lightly bring even a dirt bike on the upper portions of the road due to the HUGE amount of bouldering, likely to dump it, no fun!
