What is a CITO (Cache In Trash Out)?

CITOCache In Trash Out® (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Since 2002, CITO has helped preserve the natural beauty of cache-friendly spaces. In that time, more than 240,000 people have volunteered at 11,000 CITO events.

 

Attending a CITO Event

At CITO events, geocachers and community groups work together to improve parks and other outdoor environments. They clean up litter, plant trees, remove invasive species, build trails, and more.

 

It is time to give back. We always cache in parks now let's clean up our playground. Let's show the community what impact geocachers can have!

 


What is a Flash Mob?


WWFM – World Wide Flash Mobs – A fun and friendly way to promote geocaching around the world. Thousands of geocachers at dozens of coordinated events spanning the globe, gathering at the same time.

This was a good event to attend. Since the park was very clean I got to enjoy wandering around visiting with the other cachers.

A very well attended event! And there were two bonuses - the park was relatively clean so we had more time to visit, and the early morning rain stopped and the sun even came out for awhile. Thanks Memfis Mafia for hosting!!!

Just a little cool for me to wear a Hawaiian shirt, but that did not stop some, including our youngest geocacher attendee! Walked the park area helping where I could. Great turnout for the CITO. Thanks Memfis Mafia for setting up the event.

Everything about this CITO was fun, from the visiting around, to the cumulative sharing of smart phone "hits" needed for the ancillary wherigo Mob cache, to the actual clean-up efforts. Fortunately, the park was already pretty clean, so my BYOB was unnecessary. Thanks, Jesse! Your Memfis Mafia team created quite a day for us with the Flash CITO, the Mob Wherigo, and the fine presentation at the library event!
