This great overlook is about 7 miles along the Alkali Basin Trail that starts up from the floor at Highway 50 and can be driven by most 4x4's to this point. Huge basin below you. After this point, the 4-wheeling really does start and there is another 9 miles of trail (some really gnarly) that will take you to Doughspoon Reservoir and there are some other new caches along the route. Many people choose to go up to Doughspoon on another trail called the Pipeline over by the Devil's Thumb golfcourse as it can be doable by trucks which this one cannot.

Out for the day to see if we can add to our cache count. Never been up here before and didn't know the road was so ROUGH! Good thing we brought the side by side. That helped but it still got really bad later on. At least we found some caches!!!!

I love exploring new places and new roads in my own little county. This was a good place to stop and gear up for the tough road ahead. Thanks for placing this series.

What a ride, left Hwy 50 at noon and five and a half hours later made it back to Hwy 50. It is a little bit to overgrown for my CJ but we made it. A long rocky road. TFTC
