Cache container is a small Thermos-brand food jar, gray-green in color.

Please keep the lid screwed down tightly!
Access via Forest Road 316.

High-clearance vehicle required! Four-wheel-drive not necessary in dry weather.

Park at N 38° 12.449, W 105° 10.043 and walk downhill through the aspen grove.

When you see the rusty, bullet-riddled steam boiler, you are close to the cache!

The boiler and the nearby timbers are apparently part of a late-19th or early 20th-century sawmill, one of many that dotted the Wet Mountains.

If you continue downstream through the meadow to the east, you will find some collapsed structures--the bunk house and cook house?

If it's early summer, enjoy the wild iris in the meadow and listen for the hermit thrush singing in the forest.

I was headed to the Fish cabin for the day. I dropped the family off and went back East for this one. With my cool new truck, I was able to get within 600 feet from this cache... well I would have if I didn't take a wrong turn down one of the roads. I ended up parking .7mi from the cache with an uphill climb and only about 1.25 hours of light left. I pushed the pace up the hill. Thankfully, there was a good deer trail to where I came across an old road that went up the mountain. About .2mi when I left that road headed straight to the cache. I crossed right where I had planned to park. I found the container fairly quickly and stamped and dated the log. Nice container. It's weathering just fine after 3 years.

Dropped one of my own TBs since I won't mind if it sits there for another 3 years.

I was going to follow the road back, but decided to go straight, since I wasn't sure what route the road took. I knew if I didn't make it back by dark, I could at least continue to follow my prints back to the truck.

Since I'm way faster at downhill, I got back to the truck and even back to the cabin before dark.

TFTC!

Favorite for the peace and quiet and nice little hike.

Hiked from Adobe Peak down though Lewis Creek. Picked this cache up along the way. Didn't have a pen to sign the log. Thanks for bringing us to this great place!!
