Work began on the Alma Community Church in the summer of 1936 using local materials and donated labor. It has been suggested that the fieldstone used in its construction came from the original Park County Courthouse chimney located at the Buckskin Joe settlement, just up County Road 8 from Alma. The church was built as a non-denominational center for community and religious life during the 1930s mining boom and continues to serve the community of Alma. The church is designated as a Park County Historic Landmark and is listed on the Colorado Register of Historic Properties.

Park on Highway 9 and then walk to the church to find this cache. Behind the church you can enjoy views of the Alma State Wildlife Area.

191st cache found. Today for Fathers Day Meanlady1, Lucy (the four legged member) and I wanted to go up to Frisco, CO because they have a fantastic Cajun restaurant there. We decided to try and get some more Counties knocked out along the way. It was fun but long. We left with 11 targets: 8 found, 1 DNF, and 2 we have to reschedule due to it getting late. TFTC

The McGillicutty clan was in town this week for a long awaited (20 years in the making) family vacation! We had been on plenty of weekend trips in the past, but never a week long, anything's possible, adventure in the mountains. Little did we know, not everything was possible this week. Sooo, this thing you locals call "migration season", I mean I'm all about animals & being one with nature, but do the moose, elk & Sasquatchi really need 6 weeks to move around the mountains? The Geo-pups didn't even see any squirrels or rabbits to chase.

The gondola was shutdown, the lake/marina was shutdown, the resorts & their scenic restaurants were all shut down. One guy told us the restaurant on Peak 7 was still open, nope, shutdown too. Don't get me wrong, we still had a great time after we adjusted to the thin air, but where was Bigfoot? We saw the crossing signs, but no footprints. It snowed a couple times, which was odd & cool, since I didn't think that would happen so late in May. Too many good restaurants, too little time. We'll just have to come back in the peak of winter or the middle of summer after the lake fills back up! TFT-smileys!

Took a short scenic drive down to Fairplay on day & grabbed this cache on the way!

We are driving back to Houston from steamboat and stopped in this nice little town to go to the basket. Our one didn’t need to go as badly as the others so he took the Geo pup for a walk. Everything here was in great shape. Thanks for placing it and for the Geo fun
