Needs maintenance

The third in the series of Chost Town Caches - It is located at an altitude of 9914 feet.
The first two of the Series are Caribou Cache and Ghost 2 - Nevadaville. I rated this a 2 in difficulty because there are no buildings only a townsite, and does not appear on most maps. I talked to one of the locals that lives in the area, about 2 - 3 miles from the townsite, and he didn't know that it existed. Also, on the way to Perigo, you will pass thru the old townsite of Gold Dust, again nothing is there. It is about 1 mile before you get to Perigo. The cache is located further up the road from the townsite.

The original cache contained:

Matchbox Egg-Mobile
Knife Keychain
Red Lightstick
Slinky
Colapsable Tumbler
Hotwheels car

Fun Saver camera - please take your picture and log the frame number, I will post the pics after the camera is full.

Travel Bug Ghost 3 which is free to wander.

One hint here - One book that will tell you where the town of Perigo was is - Guide to the Colorado Ghost Towns and Mining Camps by Perry Eberhart, it should be available at a Library. If you can not find any information about Perigo and want to do the cache, email me and I will give you some directions.

Because of the heavy trees you might have a little trouble getting a good reading on your GPS.

 Hints

After you drive thru a very small stream in the road, there is a parking place. The cache is on the other side of the creek where you park. It is very close to a log that has fallen across/into the stream. Hidden under brush/twigs.

Thanks, aheilir! I love this location. An ammo can in the woods gets a favorite point from me. I thought that this would be a good morning to go up into the mountains for some caches. I was here a couple weeks ago near Nederland, and I wanted to go up Caribou Road some more with the Forester. Unfortunately I found the road closed at one point, so I walked until the snow-ice ridges across the road got to be too much, so I will have to come back here later in the summer. So I went north into Gilpin County where the roads were open to finish my morning. I run a pocket query of the area so I always have plenty of caches to look for, and I do not depend on my phone. I love it around here.
