WingsandTales and I did a nice loop today ( up one ridge on Blodgett and down another ) after parking at West Monument creek trailhead. Thanks to Snailman1 for the resurrection of the original, a favorite point is in order!

Found this on a great hike with kenyansherpa. There are easier ways to to get there but we had fun checking out an alternate route. I'm glad I remembered how to solve this one. It's been a long time since I did the original. We should have a moment of silence for a part of my misspent youth that helped with the solution. TFTC

Not my favorite hike. But appreciate that this is the kind of hike that Ernie likes. Really hot day today and probably not the best choice for weather. Not sure if we missed the trail, but our route was difficult.

Made the trek to drop the cache off with SnailMan1.

Great puzzle! Hadn't really looked at it until Gampa encouraged me to give it a shot ahead of our trip to find the final for a nearby multi. After some conversation with him, I realized what I needed to do and the coordinates appeared. So fun. Had a great hike to the final with Gampa (he trusted me to navigate and only partially lead him astray most of the time!) and made the easy grab. I looked right at it as we approached so I laughed and moved past it, allowing Gampa time to spot it (which he did, quickly). We signed the log, took some pictures, and celebrated by placing some new caches in the area. So nice up here! Beautiful views! Thanks for the fun puzzle and the excellent hike! TFTC!

We were fairly certain what we needed to do to solve this puzzle, but we went about it the wrong way. That, in turn, led us down too many other wrong paths. A nudge here and a nudge there from a previous finder confirmed we needed to go back to our original idea and we finally discovered the correct coordinates. Seems so simple now.........
So after we got a happy face from the checker, we went out with TigerFinder today to look for the container. We found Cliff Hanger first, then climbed up the hill to this cache. We were happy to make the find. While we were up on the ridge, we hid a new traditional cache to entice other cachers to come up here for some fun. Thanks for the fun puzzle cache.

What a wonderful afternoon to get out of work a bit early and hit the trails. I met up with CVA64 at the main parking lot for Blodgett, gathered up some water and snacks and with that we set out on the trail with only 4 caches in sight.
This was a really fun puzzle! I spent a few days poking around and researching a ton of things trying to track down the elusive answer to this riddle. If you ever want to learn some history, and a ton of other interesting things just search acronyms for M.A.D. I went mad for a bit digging through all the possibilities. One thing that kept standing out is that this puzzle seemed familiar. I never did the original so it was new to me regardless. I finally broke down and asked for a nudge from a previous finder and was given a direction that I thought I had explored and exhausted already but had overlooked a minor detail. After a bit more reading and understanding I finally had the AHA moment and put it together! Solution in hand, and knowing that I'd be in the area soon anyways CVA64 and I made that plans and put it on the calendar.
After hanging off a cliff for dear life and taking in some amazing views we made our way up to this cache. it was only like 1000' away so no big deal right!? ha ha ha! Wow, that was a brutal 1000' and true to any RPieperCO hike best route is a straight route right!? ha ha ha! Several places even had me on all fours climbing upward. Did I mention there were 12+ lines of elevation we had to go through from the last cache!? A few breaks, water and snacks to keep us going and before long we crested the top.
WOW! You can see EVERYTHING from this vantage. There's the plane crash, Blodgett's shadow, the peak probably another 1000' vertical. The sun was shining perfectly to see all the area and land details around. I made the find and stamped the log, replaced everything as found. All good here.
Took some time to look at routes NOT to take to a few of the mentioned locations, enjoyed the peacefulness and cool breeze. Then we planned our escape from the mountain. My favorite part! jump skiing down scree and mountain sides! WOOOOHOOOO!!!
All said, 5 miles and 4 hours! Great hike! I'm feeling it today as I write this log! Ouch! Old man breakfast.... Coffee and pain killers! Thanks for the adventure, great puzzle and awesome location!
