Father's Day trip to Pikes Peak to say goodbye to a loved one.

A REAL NAIL BITER...and for some, a head splitter.

You nearly summit Pikes Peak to sign this guest book.

Find me at eye level, staring at Denver, through a narrow slit in the rocks.

Clear plastic tube the size of a pinky.

Got an early start from the Crags trailhead this morning and had a very nice hike up to Devil's Playground. Weather was perfect, so I took several detours once up top (and on the way down) to pick up some nearby caches. My goodness, some of these have been lonely for a while! I've been kicking myself for not signing this one last time I was up here (parked 200' away, even) - I don't think I realized it had such a good D/T combo! Thank you for placing this cache. Glad to finally have it under my belt!

Had to stop here for the shuttle to the top (construction of a new visitor center is limiting parking up there), so of course I had to try for this one first. Passed it on the way up to the little know to take in the views, but snagged it on the way back down. Not much snow left here now, but still had to watch where I stepped. TFTC!

Greeting from Winnipeg, MB, Canada!

Kurt B and I are returning to Canada after attending the GeoWoodstock in Fort Worth, Texas.

We enjoyed finding some challenge caches, earthcaches, virtuals, webcams, high favourite caches and other caches on our journey back home.
The road back is never a straight line...some detouring.

We took a chance with this wintery weather to look for this one.

#11906. Thanks zstone for adding to a fun caching day!

Quite the height from our parking lot to make the find. Storm hit while we were there and dumped snow on us. Tftc

Nice little cache in a pretty busy place today. Perfect day on the mountain as there was not a cloud in the sky. Thanks for the cache

I had found the other nearby cache after parking but before ascending to the summit; it filled the 12,500 to 13,000 foot slot needed for a couple of challenges. Then I was disappointed that couldn't pick up a cache for the 13,000 to 13,500 foot slot because I was in a shuttle bus. Well, when I made the short hike up to GZ for this cache with a couple of other cachers I was very pleased to discover that was at 13,025 feet, so when I signed the log I was very happy because both challenges were complete except for finishing the details of my qualifying list. I also picked up a new name for my girl's names bookmark list and a traditional 2/5 cache; good job and TFTC!

Note to other seekers: Don't let the T5 rating scare you; it is a very, very mild T5.

Caching with VeesMom on Labor Day on top of Pikes Peak and along the road there. We saw that an event had been scheduled for this day and thought it would be cool to score a 14,000 foot event. We were concerned that the area would be open as there was a several inches snowfall two days before our visit. We were advised at the entrance that there was fog at the top. Drivable but no viewing. We proceeded anyway after paying the $26 entrance fee. By the time we arrived on top the fog had cleared, the sky was cloudy but Colorado Springs and every reservoir along that line of sight were visible. One of us had actually climbed that mountain about 30 years ago. The top has changed considerably due to construction which is still ongoing. Finding the various caches hidden in the rocks was made more difficult by the snow covering and extreme slipperiness. One cache was apparently under the snow, so we placed a replacement nearby (bison) under a cairn of rocks. Met with the hosts for the event. Great day and well worth the trip. Thanx to the various CO's for placing the caches.
