Dogs  Recommended for kids  Scenic view  Available at all times  Picnic tables nearby  Bicycles  No Horses  Stealth required

A quick park and grab.  This is the Eastern most cache that I have placed in the parks system of Lafayette North of Baseline.  Unlike some of the others that require some walking you can actually park next to this one and if you are extra sneaky you can shield your nefarius activities from prying eyes with your vehicle.

While researching the placement for this cache I came across a relic from a bygone era in the form of a bearing plate and a couple of old spikes from the rail line that served the coal mines near this location.  See the pic's for an image.

PS  The hint comes from a time when I was working in Buffalo Wy for an outfit that was procuring posts and poles from the forest.

Congratulations to FLM on his FTF

Started this fine summer morning with GanderGoose and #1Beefers on an "Alpenist" caching adventure, with a few other cachers' caches sprinkled in. This was the first cache during the coolest part of the morning. Thank you for the unique placement and cache Alpenist. SL. Earns a favorite point from me!

Had a super fun morning with my good caching buddies, #1 Beefers and mooseyaround. The dog park was quite busy this morning. Very cool cache. Gets a favorite point! Thanks for the placement, Alpenist!

I knew there was something missing in my thinking as I puzzled around for this one. Stuck a stick in a few critter holes before it hit me. (Ps. Don’t put your hand in a critter hole!!)

Saw this one as we drove up, but still a really nice idea for a cache. Probably won't get muggled in an area where it would otherwise be likely.

Apparently, in the wee hours of the morning, there was a conscientious parks worker collecting trash who witnessed some geocaching activities that included the cache container and camo and decided that, cumbersome as it was, it was his civic and professional duty to remove it and haul it off to the dump (or wherever they take stuff like that). With a little work a new cache was fashioned and placed within a healthy social distance of the first. Good luck, Have fun.

New container and camo, in almost the same location.

that sucks that it went missing so soon. I used to take my dog here a lot. I know that there are a lot of community caretakers (bring water, pick up trash) so I hope one of them didn't pick it up.

The cache container is missing in action. Will replace soon.
