This is one of a series of caches that are associated with the local history

The actual cache is located in Potter’s Field, not located at this location. Use the clue to be found at this location to decipher the actual location.

On December 23, 1883 the Grand Junction News reported that Baby Garland was the first to be buried in this cemetery in 1881. The second was B.A Scott and then P.H. Gordon who died by drowning in the river while chasing cattle rustlers.

In 1883 this field was homesteaded by Joseph Harper and then sold to General William Palmer, founder of the Denver & Rio Grand Railroad. Palmer’s estate sold the property to James Rankin in 1919 whom sold it to the City of Grand Junction that same day.

The clue is located on City property which is called Potter’s Field. The cache is located on Mesa County property, the actual location of Potter’s Field cemetery.

Completed final stage today, saw the obvious clues but needed a hint to make sense of it, nice puzzle, thanks.

We came out yesterday and found stage one, went home and Kerry figured out the final. TFTC

More of a puzzle than a multi. Found stage one in good shape, but the 5 X’s aren’t much of a clue to solve for final.

We solved the 5 X's and got the second stage coordinates. So we were just sitting there thinking the same thing, "Let's go look!" We struggled for a bit until Sly found it. We squeezed the date and initials onto the log: "3-15-20 SLY + KC". Container and log are in great shape! Thanks for bringing us back here.

Looked and thought for a long time ...

Altered the description, the X issue should be corrected.

Fishlogger's idea worked well. The first stage formula was not solvable. We also found the remains of a previous cache that was just outside the fence. To save space, we entered FL and CNG in the log. TFTC

had an idea of how to go about this cache... c-n-g and i went down this evening and tried my idea and it worked after about 20 minutes of looking... forget about the 5x's as the formula is flawed. it is a good cache otherwise...T4TC, SL.

FTF!! Well, that was interesting. All the times we have been past here and didn’t realize a cemetery was here. We tried a lot of different ways to solve this, finally got it. TFTC I’ll give this a favorite!
