A puzzle cache located on the mother of nearby Sheep Mountains and the final cache in our Sheep Series.

A series celebrating the proliferation of Sheep Mountains and other Sheeps of prominence in the Pikes Peak region.

The container is not at the posted coordinates. To find this cache you must simply find the 6 caches listed below (in any order), collect the unique puzzle piece from each and use those pieces to complete the puzzle. The 5/5 rating is for having to find all 7 series caches. This cache on it's own would be more like a 4/4 for the puzzle, elevation, rock hopping and bushwacking.

Sheep Series: Garden of the Gods
Sheep Series: Little Lamb
Sheep Series: Sheep Nose
Sheep Series: South Platte
Sheep Series: SheepRock
Sheep Series: What Does The Sheep Say?

Assemble your 6 puzzle pieces and use the following key to decipher the coordinates.

The way we got to Sheep Mountain was to come in the Cripple Creek side of Gold Camp Road (waypoint provided) to Forest Service Road 376 (waypoint). It takes about the same amount of time (under 1.5 hours) from Colorado Springs as coming from the Old Stage side but with less washboard. We drove the car and parked before the stream crossing at 376A (parking waypoint). I think it would take a serious 4x4 to attempt 376A so we walked up the switchbacked road to it's highest point (waypoint) and headed cross country toward Sheep Mountain. Our route was about 3 miles each way from 10.7K ft to over 12K ft and took about 4 hours round trip. If you've never been in this valley, it's the access to the new South Slope Recreation Area and it's beautiful. If you're a real cachochist there are other great caches in the area notably the must find Sport's Timber Flume

Special thanks to mugglepaul, my parents and kids for varying assistance.
Congratulations to hartsdale for being FTF.

Fantastic series! Ernie66 and I are very familiar with this area and I've driven up to the recommended parking spot one other time. It was a bit more difficult this time, but we were able to get there in the end. Sure, we could have hiked up twice as fast, but I love a good challenge whether you are on your feet or in a car. Great 4WD challenge and a great hike. Thanks for more fun. The series definitely deserves a favorite.

Compared to some of the others in the series, this one was remarkably devoid of rock scrambling, prickly brush, and long distances. The spectacular landscapes common in the series was not lacking here, though.

Estes01 and I set out this morning to capture the final cache. The stream crossing was uneventful, but it pushed the limits of estes01's Jeep to get through one of the obstacles on 376A. We resorted to moving a number of large rocks to make a driveable path through. I think it might have been faster to just walk up 376A Smile.

Great container and I wish we could stay longer, but clouds are moving in and we have 1.6 miles to hike back to the Jeep, then about that much again of rough, precise driving over rocks I'd just as soon weren't wet and slippery. Took the trackable, great cache, thanks!

Out and about this morning for a nice long hike.

The stream crossing was alittle tricky, but I made it across twice.

Still some big old snow drifts to go around, up high and in the trees.

Thanks for a few sheep caches to hunt for!

I traded trackables and it is now downhill most of the way back.
