The cache is NOT at the above coordinates, but that is where the trailhead is to get to this cache.  You can also approach from the east, but we have not hiked from that direction; when we planted this cache, we approached from the northwest.

IF YOU SOLVED THE PUZZLE OVER A YEAR AGO, RECHECK THE SOLUTION WITH THE GEO-CHECKER BELOW !!! THE CACHE WAS MOVED DUE TO MUGGLE ACTIVITY. If you have the old coords, provide those to us and we will give you the updated coords, which are not far from the original coords.

BE SURE TO WRITE DOWN THE LETTER CODE ON THE LID OF THE CONTAINER, AND IN THE FRONT OF THE LOGBOOK (SAME CODE) WHICH IS USED IN THE “CLASSIC MOVIES" FINAL CACHE which is linked below.

Welcome to the fourth Classic Movies cache by the 3 Williams Kidz geo-team. The idea is that you will have to watch the movie to get the answers to the questions below; there are one, maybe two exceptions, for trivia’s sake. Since the entire script is available – and easily “searchable” -- online, I have tried to come up with questions that you cannot answer by searching the Internet, so some of these questions are pretty obscure.

Here are all the geocaches in the Classic Movies series:

1. Casablanca

2. The Great Escape

3. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

4. Cool Hand Luke

5. Patton

6. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

7. The Godfather

8. High Noon

9. The Wizard of Oz

10. Gone With the Wind

And the FINAL cache: Classic Movies FINAL cache

If you are willing to watch one of Hollywood’s finest classic movies, get the TV and video player ready, maybe pop some popcorn, and have a pen and paper ready to answer the below questions, which are NOT IN THE ORDER they are presented in the film (just one part of the difficulty rating).

Pay close attention to the clues; If you don’t pay attention, you get a night in the box ! If you are up past last bell trying to figure out this puzzle cache, you get a night in the box ! If you need to use the hint, you get a night in the box ! Okay, you get the idea. And if you don’t get the idea – you get a night in the box !

The cache is located at North AB CD.EFG West HIJ KL.MNO

Latitude:

A and B: Luke's prisoner number, which we can see multiple times throughout the film on both his blue shirt and on his pants, PLUS ONE, is AB .

C: Arletta, who is Luke's Mom, has visited him in prison, even though she is restricted to the back of a pickup truck. The visit is now over; as the truck drives off, there are vehicles lined up -- parked -- on the right side of the screen. The number of vehicles is C.

D: Just before being arrested, Luke opens a bottle using a church key (bottle opener) that he has: if on a chain around his neck, D=1. If in his right pocket, D=2. If in his shirt pocket, D=3. He continues to use this church key throughout the film.

E: Luke says that "… sometimes, nothin' is a real cool hand" which is how he earns his name. What is his poker hand? If king high, E=1. If queen high, E=2. If ace high, E=3. If a pair of twos, E=4.

F: The name of the prison the Luke goes to is Division of Corrections Road Prison AND THEN A NUMBER. The first of the two digits of the Road Prison number MINUS ONE is F.

G: It is Luke's first day out on the chain gang, and it sure is hot. At lunchtime, we see a tattoo on the chest of one of the prisoners. If the tattoo is an anchor, G=3. If the tattoo is a ship, G=5. If the tattoo is a heart, G=7. If the tattoo is a mermaid, G=8.

Longitude:

H: The number of times TOTAL that the Captain (Strother Martin) says the famous phrase "What we've got here is (a) failure to communicate!" is H.

I: The number of times the guard that wears the mirrored sunglasses (Godfrey, the "Walking Boss", aka "The man with no eyes") speaks is I.

J: Luke has escaped the prison, and is trudging through the creek. The dog handler is at the train station with the guards, and hears the bloodhound barking, and then says "Aw, listen to Blue sing -- he's on to him, he sez." Then, about 10 seconds later, a police car pulls up, and the THIRD OF THE SIX digits on the license plate on the police car is J.

K: Only once in the movie do we see a prisoner reading a newspaper. If the paper is the San Francisco Examiner, K=1. If the paper is the Chicago Tribune, K=3. If the paper is the New York Times, K=5. If the paper is the Wall Street Journal, K=7.

L: The prisoners are tarring the road; just after Godfrey (the sunglasses guard) gets his rifle, we see what company built the tar truck, by the emblem above the radiator. If the company is Peterbilt, L=1. If the company is Chevrolet, L=3. If the company is White, L=5. If the company is Ford, L=7.

M: The number of times the red "Violation" flag pops up as Luke is cutting the heads off the parking meters is M.

N: The blond girl is washing her car; the license plate on the car has three letters and three digits, and the last digit PLUS ONE is N.

O: Luke keeps on shakin' the bush to let the guards know he is there, but he escapes for the second time. He then goes through a homestead and gas station where you can see a tin sign for Merad cigars that cost how much? If 2 cents, O=3. If 3 cents, O=8. If 5 cents, O=2. If ten cents, O=9.

Hope you enjoyed the movie, and this puzzle ! If you have your solution, check it for accuracy at Geochecker.com.

CONGRATULATIONS to hartsdale -- now FTF on each of the first 4 caches in the 3 Williams Kidz Classic Movies series !!!

Some trivia, from The Internet Movie Database, at www.imdb.com:

Bette Davis was first offered the role of Luke's mother, but refused the bit part.

Luke's prison number is a reference to the Bible - Luke 1:37. ("For with God nothing shall be impossible.")

The music cue where Luke gets the men to work faster on the road was used later for many years by many ABC television stations as their "Eyewitness News" theme.

In the "road-tarring" sequence, the actors actually blacktopped a mile-long stretch of highway for the county.

The opening scene, where Luke is cutting off the heads of parking meters, was filmed in Lodi, California. After the filming, the city did not replace the meters, and for many years afterward, you could go there and see a block long row of metal posts, sans meters.

According to Jack Lemmon’s son, Chris, in an Icons Radio Interview Lemmon was originally selected to play the part of Luke, but Lemmon, reading the script, saw that Paul Newman would be better. So Lemmon decided to produce it.

Donn Pearce who wrote the novel on which the movie is based, spent 2 years on a chain gang for safe-breaking. Pearce makes a cameo appearance in the movie as a convict named Sailor.

Actor Morgan Woodward, who played Boss Godfrey, a.k.a. "The Man With No Eyes," remained in character during breaks between scenes. He would sit in his chair, still wearing his mirrored sunglasses, and not speak to anyone.

When the famous line "What we've got here is a failure to communicate" is originally spoken by the Captain (Strother Martin) he omits the "a"; but when Luke (Paul Newman) repeats the line at the end while in the church, he says "a failure to communicate." Thus, the line can be quoted correctly both with and without the "a".

This has been on my to do list for too long and with the nice weather this weekend it was time to get it done. I'm glad I noticed the note about the change in location of the final. The CO provided the updated coords in exchange for my old ones. I still had some trouble at the GZ due to the terrain so the hint picture was a welcome aide. Great series. Fav point. Traded TBs. TFTC!

Went up today and no joy. Searched for about a half hour and decided to move on to the other target of the day. Will check my cords and come back after a little road trip.

Several years ago I watched all the Classic films in this series as I was recovering from surgery. I had expected to get in the field to find them long ago, but it never happened. Today, as icezebra11 and I were on a fun hike together, we went off-trail a bit to the calculated coordinates. It was great to log this second of the 10 Classic Movies cache series--only eight more to get to in the field. I recall how much I enjoyed each of the films. I'm certain that years from now I will recall how much I enjoyed finding each of the caches! This one gets a Favorite point. Thanks, 3 Williams Kidz!

A couple weeks ago Denali41 and I made plans to travel south today to the Pike's Peak/Colorado Springs area to go after a bunch of caches, starting at the top of the peak and working our way back down the mountain toward CS. Last night I texted my son who lives in the Springs that we'd be there today and asked if he wanted to hike with us in the Devil's Playground area. He said "good luck" because the Hill Climb was happening today. So we had to alter our plan to eliminate all the caches above the toll booth. We still had a full day of caching, as we fully expected we wouldn't be able to get to all the caches on the target list, even without the caches on PP.

Our first stop of the day was to Redstone Castle. We had a nice hike to the location and picked up a few other caches in the neighborhood. We were successful in locating this cache and signing the log. The hint was very helpful. We found the cache a ways from our solved coordinates but that was because our solution was done several years ago and we hadn't read the notes that indicated the cache had been relocated since then. Our goof but it worked out. Thanks 3 Williams Kidz!!!

I was sluggish and not feeling like exercising all week, but I finally got talked into this great hike. Started off freezing, but by the time we got to the top I was warmed up and actually running to the peak from our last find. Thanks for placing this cache for us to enjoy!
