On the Geocaching (premium) trails map there is a feature named 'The Tree'.  There are actually two cottonwood trees at this location which is East of the trail and West of an agricultural lease in Boulder County Open Space. There is an old fence line here with some old fence posts and occasional remnants of barbed wire (thorns), so be careful.  There is also a large bird house attached to the North most tree as well as some netting at the crown.

This one took us a while of going in circles but I went to where the gps was pointing and just happened to touch the right thing and there was the cache. Nice tough hide.

This cache had two of us searching for a longtime. We should have trusted the GPS. This is a nicely done hide.

We headed out to spend the day on a caching adventure through Lafayette, Dacono, Longmont, Loveland, Greeley and Johnstown. Made the short hike to GZ. Spent about 20 to 25 minutes and about 6 times around the tree doing a methodical search. Did find a branch that looked suspicous. Waved the white flag and gave Lostindenver a call to get a hint. It still took another couple of minutes to finally have this very well hidden smiley in hand. Awesome hide and craftsmanship, SL,TFTC Scores a fav pt. + ApproveApproveApproveApproveApprove

[FTF] 06-10-2020 at 5:44 pm. So, in my seemingly endless quest to get an FTF on every calendar day, I have been scouring the new caches like an owl searching for a mouse. Today I needed one and saw this come out. We loaded up the Jeep and headed to Boulder, er Lafayette. Pretty easy drive up here. I refreshed the listing to make sure it was still fresh while pulling up to a parking spot. COVID signs mark the beginning of the trail and I'm prepared with my mask, water bottle, and floppy hat. We walked along until we were close to the GZ and then I looked closer at the cache listing. It's by Alpenist? Oh Crap. I might be in over my head. Luckily, it didn't take too long to sniff out the excellent cache. What else can I say without giving a hint. Great job again. Somehow, I came up to the area and lost 4 favorite points on 3 Alpenist caches.
Thanks for the cache!
