The Hoop Creek Bridge is a favorite stop on the Clear Creek County side of the Pass.  First built in 1921 the bridge went through many changes during it’s time in use.  The first bridge had pipe railing and had a distance of 18 feet between them.  In 1926 stone walls were added, made of moss rock.  The distant between the walls was increased to 26 feet.  In the early 30’s the road was widened and routed to present location.  The stone bridge was no longer traveled by cars, plans were made to turn site in to a recreational area.  In 2006 Partners for Access to the Woods (PAW) restored the site.  Visit Clear Creek County web site to view photos and read history of Berthoud Pass.

We were so looking forward to attending and caching our way to and around the Celebrating Historic Grand Lake Event. We had received an email last night from one of the hosts that Trail Ridge Road was closed due to ice and snow, and that the event might be canceled. Mr SDC informed me that we weren't taking Trail Ridge Road to get to Grand Lake. I emailed the host back to let her know and she made arrangements to have another host there in the event we decided to chance the weather spoiling our day. We are so glad we went ahead with our plans as we had an amazing day caching and enjoying the end of the changing of the Aspens BigSmile. The weather started out a bit iffy with some light rain and fog but cleared up nicely as we got deeper in the mountains. We managed to grab most of the Across The Divide GeoTour 2018 caches along with some others. SL, TNLN, TFTC

Thank you GreencoreOutfitters for placing this cache for our enjoyment.

Today started as another average day of caching. Average for me.... a frenzy of confusion and aha moments. I started the adventure with @WindAtMyBack by grabbing an FTF. Next up we searched for geocaches with many favorite points. Not my usual thing, but this October Geocaching issued the "You might be a Caching Connoisseur if..." challenge.
We ended up all the way out here after I fat fingered the wrong coords into a puzzle. Long drive, but we grabbed several worthy caches while on our detour :) Luckily @windatmyback spotted this one, because I overlooked it!
The day ended with Lechugas. If you haven't been there, go. Amazing food in my old hood. TFTC!

Not too much water on the falls this time of year, but lots of happy kids scrambling all over the place. Thanks for a great stop and pretty views of the surrounding mountains and fall colors.
