This is a difficult cache to get to. Come prepared to get wet!
Come prepared! The cache is on an island in the middle of the Animas River. There are no bridges to the island. You will have to wade/swim or use a tube/raft to get there. Please use common sense when getting to this location. I do not want to hear about anyone getting hurt or worse getting to this cache. It is supposed to be an adventure but it is not worth your life! This cache will not be accessible during the winter due to cold water and the high chance of hypothermia unless you have a wet suit or similar. If water levels are high like they are in late spring/early summer using a tube would be your best bet. If you are feeling daring (yet still careful!) you can take a walk on the river trail and with a quick hike and swim you can get there. This little island has always taunted me as I drive by it frequently. I always wanted to go out there but I never had a reason to until I discovered geocaching. FTF will get a para-cord bracelet, a power bank for charging your devices remotely, and the Man of Steel DVD. When putting it back please take a moment to put it back how you found it. I don't think water levels will rise high enough to get to the cache but make sure it is secure and the log book stays dry. Have fun! Congratulations to Biscuit53 and friends for the First To Find!
