Medium hike (1km-10km)

After taking the walk to "It's All About Horses" I decided to place a cache to get Back Country Horsemen back out here.

The cache is located on the Ringtail Trail in the Nelson Ranch Open Space.

You're looking for an olive green water bottle under the only tree cluster 10 feet from the trail. When you replace it, please take a look from the trail to make sure it's not obvious.
The terrain rating is based on hiking from the Roxborough State Park Visitor Center. The route is much longer from the Sharptail Ridge trail head and longer and with more elevation loss & gain from Indian Creek.

No bikes or dogs are allowed from Roxborough State Park Visitor Center or Sharptail Ridge Open Space. Roxborough does allow dogs and bikes on County Road 5. Sharptail Ridge also has seasonal closures in the fall for hunting.

Roxborough State Park and Indian Creek are fee areas.

It has been so long since we have been geocaching. My wife, a friend and I were doing a big Loop hike out here and picked this as a spot to rest. My wife saw the cache and said "maybe it's a geocache." Sure enough it was! The container is beginning to break down but the log book is dry and in good shape. What a beautiful spot!

Parked at Sharptail Ridge Trailhead and went for a total of 16.4 mile walk today. Beautiful weather except for the strong winds in the morning. Hardly saw anybody all day. Got back to the car about 3:00. I was hoping to get "Heritage of Horses" also, but decided I had done enough miles for today. Will have to save that one for another day. When I returned to the trailhead, there was one horse trailer parked there. These were fun! Really appreciate that you set these out here, it gave me a fun place to walk today.
Thanks! GreasePot from Golden, CO

A short jog over from Swallowtail loop to grab this. Hiked in from Sharptail Ridge.

What a view! jsarche and I (Mr. spacecadet) took a short walk from where we were doing some trail work to find this one. We've been wanting to do this hike and also find Backcountry Horsemen's 'It's All About the Horses' cache, but we were so close while working a CITO event we just had to take advantage of it. The views here a great, well worth the long hike (even though it wasn't that far for me!). TNLNSL, TFTC.

Wow - almost a year since this one was found, and I have a strong feeling I'm not the only finder today Wink. 2spacecadets and I took a short detour while working at a CITO event so we could get this fairly remote cache. Thanks to sassydil for setting up the event, and for working it out so the hike to this cache was relatively short with our special access into the park.

rode our bikes to this one from It's all about horses. Found both of these on the same day!
