Need a reason to go abuse yourself, then this cache is for you..go up about 2500 vertical feet in about 2.5 miles (start at ~7k)(5 miles RT).

You end up overlooking Devils Kitchen , thus the name of the cache..
Ok some may ask why here.. well there is a story behind that, but you will have to email me if you really want to know.

This is a good cache for those who enjoying:

  • going to the top of the incline
  • hiking to Barr camp to get a drink of water
  • running up Blodgett for a quick picture of Pikes Peak
  • packing a head lamp & shell - regardless

The best way to start this cache is to follow the route for the first leg of Hidden Treasure and keep going up.. and up.. and up..
past where the trail ends, past the carens.. and you get to the point where the only feeling of getting back to the car is total and complete reliance on the GPS or a good map

The views are surprisingly incredible from the top and actually you end up near the same elevation as Blodgett peak

If you are not experienced in back country navigation this might make a good primer as you just enter the PNF wilderness
Now a new cache is near this one (hint) Cache container contains a log book only - room to leave stuff you want, but not required.

We came at this one from the back of Blodgett not as grueling as coming from the east, but no real trail to follow either. Sl, thanks!

Had a nice hike along the ridge today. I've been meaning to come to these caches for a while, and finally got here. Thanks for the hide!

I picked this one up during a day hike of MT Blodgett. I've put off coming and trying the nice caches in the area for a long time, so I was happy to finally have the chance to do so today. The temperature was in the 40's, so it was nice not to have the sun beating down on my neck even though I was underdressed for the cooler weather. I had a real fun hike to this spot and enjoyed the hunt. I really didn't mean to come after this one today. However, once I gained the ridgeline, I decided just to pick up the caches here since I already gained the altitude. Thanks to the CO for excellent site selection, fun cache, and keeping this old one alive; I really appreciate it. TFTC.

We hiked up to this area from the Blodgett parking lot a couple of weeks ago to grab some caches, but ran out of time before we could go after some of the higher elevation caches. So we made the long, steep climb again today and went after four of the caches we missed last time, including one that we needed for our D/T grid and one that we needed for our date hidden calendar. All caches were dry and easy to sign. Thanks for placing these challenging caches for us all to enjoy!
