I really enjoy a cache like this one, where you're really having to put some brain power into figuring out where it's going to be. Then, you really put in the leg power to go out and put your calculations to the test. I had the first half of info for this one, and had already found the cache containing the second half (but I stupidly didn't realize I needed any info from it at that time). Anyway, my girls and I had an amazing overnight backpacking trip up on Crosier to finally finish this and a couple others off. We ended up making camp for the night right in the "middle" of the three caches I was targeting. This allowed for small excursions in each direction to go and find them. It was a lot of fun and each location was very beautiful. I had already appreciated Crosier mountain and now I do even more. Thank you.

After retrieving the info I needed from Bishop's Staff, it was fairly easy to pinpoint this one. I'd already drawn the bearing from Parsley, Sage and had a pretty good idea where the cache was going to be. As I was hunting around for it on top, I said to my friend, "This is the view in the picture," turned around, and spotted it immediately.
The day had been overcast and cool up until that moment, which was good since it's quite a hike up there (especially as we had to run up to Bishop's Staff first), but as soon as we pulled out the cache, the sun broke though and it was a beautiful sunny day all the way down. Perhaps Mac was pleased we found his cache. He should certainly be pleased with where it was placed. What a lovely spot!
Took a quarter and left some first aid stuff, a packet of small notebooks, and a couple of little carabiners. Cache is in good shape. Thanks for the fun find!
It's in there somewhere

A delightful bushwhack through a meadow and fun boulder scramble. Unfortunately the weather was quickly closing in on us and there was no time to rest and take in the scenery. By the time we had regained the ridge we were greeted with a flash of lightning and an almost immediate clap of thunder. Ernie could quickly see that I was not about to continue on to Anne’s Overlook and we started to head back down the trail. About .4 miles down the trail the rain stopped and we decided to turn around and continue our original mission. This turned out to be a good decision.

Tried for this one two weeks ago but due to my inability to read the map scale correctly I came up short (by 1/2). After correcting my error I gave it another try. It worked! What a great place for Tahosa to put a cache in honor of his dad. TFTC

We have found this one on a special geo-teering hike around Tahosa's caches lead by Denali.
After some calculations (or a little cheating by using an app :) ) we have got the final coords of this one. And the final location pays off for all the effort. And it gives up a secret for finding another cache at a great location!
TFTC!
Where is this?

Our Geo-Teering group had a great day on Crosier Mountain. We owe our thanks to Tahosa for creating so many great caches and to Denali41 for continuing the legacy. I tried a cache closer to home that is based on this one and now I understand why my numbers weren't working out. After Denali41's patient teaching I hope go back and complete it. It always amazes me how much I have learned through geocaching but today will stand above the rest. TFTC

Early in my caching career ( "in the days of yore" ), my son and I were in the area one glorious fall afternoon and collected the info from the 2 caches needed for this one. In our logs for those caches that day we stated, "got the clues but ran out of daylight to continue the search". We were very naive, we could never have made the proper calculations without the knowledge I learned today. This cache will always rank as one of my all-time favorites due to the educational value, the patient instructons from professor Denali, the spectacular views and wonderful companions I was blessed to hike with today. Thanks for this as well as all your other spectacular caches, Tahosa!

Thanks, Tahosa, for this cache and your enduring presence on Crosier Mountain. You and your caketaker-successor, Denali41 have a respectful influence on those who follow along your big footprints on the mountain.
I was part of the Cinco de Mayo group led by Denali41 that traipsed across the mountain trails on a delightful Saturday. Thanks to my co-hikers and explorers for the great day in Roosevelt National Forest.
We learned new mapping skills along the way and discovered that some maps have old data.

Found this on our Geo-Teering outing on Crosier Mountain. Really a fantastic cache requiring the use of compass and dividers. Found out that the Datums used can have an impact on final location. This cache was very educational and helped provide new skills. Thanks for this great cache and navigational exercise! SL
