This cache is near the old mining town of howardsville, north east of Silverton. Beautiful views. At the howardsville store you can access the road from behind the store or you can follow the power line from cunningham gulch. There is a huge pile of dirt in the road to keep all vehicles out,so its probably best to park by the store.

NMFireHorse and Scotty the Highlander got warmed up on Lime Creek Road, and now to try to scout the Lake City route. We weren't about to DNF anything we could get to along the way, including this cache. Thanks for giving us a reason to do the drive, for the history, for bringing us here, and for the fun cache! XNSL, DBs.

Wow! Thanks for bringing us to this area. I had no idea what the hint meant until I followed my pup a little further up the hill. Such a beautiful, serene clearing.

I picked this one up while in the local area during the end of the June transition month for what I called the "Freeze and Fry Run"...snivel cold at night and in the morning, sun beating hot in the afternoon. I had to go to Cortez, CO to pick up some old friends from New Jersey to act as their tour guide while enroute to DIA. Of course, I was trying to hike and pick up a few caches before they arrived. I decided to give this one a try because it looked fun and had a decent D/T rating. I was grateful to make the find after a short hunt and without too much drama. I enjoyed the view and the hunt. It was a nice bonus that this cache was one year lonely. I keep track of caches that are one year or more lonely for challenges. With this find, I now have (counting only 1 year or more lonely) a total of 105 years,9 months lonely time on 54 caches from 11 North American States & Provinces. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.

This was my first find almost 10 years ago, but I was part of a team then. Now I am doing this one on my own. The others that I was with back then John4x4 and Pats4x4 opted to wait in the Jeeps near the creek while I went up. I remember this a LOT closer to the road 10 years ago when I was 20 lbs lighter. But I got up there and signed the log. As always, hard way up, easier way down.
