Well this cache was to be 16 51, a continuation of 16 52. But someone beat me to the spot. So I went back up the ridge and found an appropriate spot with nice views of the meadow.
Well hidden in a Dead and Down. It's about 3.6 miles round trip. Stay the trails until you get to within 250' of the cache. At the East end of East 3rd Street is the Horse Gulch Trial Head. From there take Horse Gulch Trail to Meadow Loop, I suggest going the right route from here, it's a more steady accent and us mountain bikers usually use the left for their downhill decent. I pedaled the cache on my back up there placed it and was back in about an hour.

Yay! Nice fun hike with lots of beautiful wildflowers! My Dad's 500th cache. Thanks so much for the fun time!

Out with Mrs. Plongeur and SprinklesB on a beautiful Colorado spring day to find cache #500! We took the long way around the loop, then scrambled up to make the grab. The container blends in but is still an easy find. I TNLN but SprinklesB exchanged a few items. SL TFTC!

Sometimes one cache in a day is enough. The Horse Gulch trail system is great, with excellent signage at each major junction. The grades are very modest on the Meadow Loop, and today the flowers were amazing. Lupines, paintbrush, some kind of milkvetch, and phlox were out in profusion after the winter snow and spring rain. There were plenty of people out riding or walking on a lovely weekday morning. The cache is in great shape, and the view, although somewhat obscured, is very good. The snow-blasted La Platas peeking over the hill are striking. Hard to beat. Many thanks for the cache.
