When I was young I loved to scare people in the dark and make up stories about monsters.  I still love to scare people. With this cache, I can do both.  Many people are afraid of the dark, or afraid of confined spaces.  This cache puts you at the edge of both….

On August 22, 1983, three year old Lori went missing from her front yard.  Police, neighbors, and family searched for the missing little girl without luck.  Media covered the incident, but no one knew where little Lori went. People speculated that she wandered away and would be found lost, but safe.  Unfortunately, three days later, the truth was learned. Lori was found 15 miles west of Denver. A couple hiking heard her cries and found her at the bottom of a 10 foot outhouse.  She had been victimized and was then hospitalized for exposure. Police later identified Robert Paul Thiret as the kidnapper. He was charged with sexual assault, attempted murder, and kidnapping.  After taking a plea, he served only 6 years in prison. Robert Thiret now lives in San Pedro, California.

Unfortunately, this story is true.  Lori is my not so distant relative.

Congratulations to Herndonrd for the FTF! 23/108

Thanks for the cache! Didn't realize that dogs weren't allowed here. Made a mad dash to pick up a couple of caches. Will have to come back another day to get the others in the area without geopuppy Riley.

GRRR - Had just finished Red Bull Rush and walked back to the car. Then we realized we had gone by one of your other caches on the way back. Debated for a few minutes - it was already after 6 and we had been out all day - but in the end we couldn't resist so out we went again. This one took us much longer than it should have and we went places we certainly didn't need to - but in the end we found it. Very sad story.
