Cache is located just off Dartmouth Avenue which is the northeast corner of the shopping center built in the late 50's. The GZ was the only local full service gas station in the area.  Other gas stations came later.  The area surrounding the GZ is no longer a gas station and is now across a DPD "cop shop" as is on their front door.  Due south of the GZ on the end of the building was Herb's Barber shop

This shopping center many businesses, now long gone including, Hodel's Drug, Miller's Grocery, Duckwall's, Dolly Madison Model store, and many more small stores.  They are all gone and have been replaced by many new bright stores, progress.  Remember as a kid in grade school given a one dollar bill ($1.00) to buy mom a CARTON of cigarettes for her and 10 cents for a soda for walking the two blocks from home and getting the smokes.

Nobody else in the area.
And that was a good thing.
Took some time finding the right spot.
But made the find, signed the log and replaced as found.

No kidding, Cop Shop! As I was searching, a bunch of cop cars roared in and one or two hit their sirens. For a minute I thought that I was going to get busted for lurking around GZ, but 30-35 well-dressed people got out of the cars and congregated at the south end of the building. Not sure what was going on, but I signed the log and made a hasty exit. Thanks for the cache!

Nice hide. More trouble getting the cache out than making the find. SL. Many fond memories of this shopping center. We moved here in 1972 and lived in the Columbine area and this was the nearest shopping center at the time. Besides the many stores that you mentioned there was a cafe called the Bear Valley Inn, known as the BVI to regular patrons. It had the best Mexican cuisine in the area thanks to the chef, Johnny Trujillo. We used to make a weekly trek there for lunch from the Martin Marietta facility at Waterton.
