The cache is at the posted coordinates but you must complete the challenge before you can log the cache.

Total the distance from your home coordinates to each cache you have found. You need 500,000 miles to qualify.

All your finds count so a lot close to home or a much smaller number at a distance will get you there. Show your qualifications however you can but you must provide reasonable documentation that you meet the requirement. I'll provide examples of a few ways to demonstrate your qualifications.

07/15/2013 - Update - There is a GSAK macro that will calculate your qualifications specifically for this cache. It is MillionMileChallenge.gsk.

1. The easiest but least accurate method is to use your Geocaching.com stats page. Multiply the number of caches you have in each range by the LOWEST distance for the range. The picture below is from my stats page and results in the following calculation:

2. Your profile on the Project-GC website has a block labeled "Finds by distance from home". To find it click on the link and you should be on the Dashboard page. From there select "My Profile Stats" and scroll down. You will need to convert from kilometers to miles. This block is not visible to other users so I can't see it if I look up your profile. Please include a screen shot of the block for proof. If that is not possible you can copy and paste it but it is harder to read. An example from my stats is below.





There are a lot of caches in this big, wide world. Go get 'em.

The logging is complete in this area. They will be back to burn the slash piles eventually but nothing else should be disturbed in the future. The cache has been replaced and moved slightly. Please note the new size and hint.

There is a massive logging/tree thinning operation going on in the area. I found the container or I should say the remains of the container. It was totally mangled by the machinery. I will get this one replaced when the work is done. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Well when I set out today was not sure if what to expect as I went to find these. There was more snow on the ground than expected but glad I was able to get this. I met this challenge. Wisewarrior and Littlehawk signed it as well but do not meet the requirement yet. So we will work on them getting to log this one. TFTC

Using the basic method from the stats grid produces at least 507,900 miles from home.
1000 x 283 = 283,000
500 x 279 = 139,500
250 x 196 = 49,000
100 x 364 = 36,400

My GSAK is not quite up to date but that is irrelevant. I have at least 2.6 million miles from home according to the macro. This was a nice little hike into the woods (at altitude, I might mention!) but apparently I am acclimating somewhat. Cache is in fine condition.

Project GC gives my average distance to finds as 697 km which is 433 miles, and with 2645 finds at the time, this gives me a distance of 1.145,285 miles.
I have to confess that moving home a year ago from the south of england to the West Coast of Scotland has a lot to do with me qualifying for both these challenges, but I promise I didn't move just to qualify. I picked up the trackables from the cache.

Perfect day for a hike in Green Mountain Falls, and I've had my eye on this one for a while, so it was an easy detour afterwards. Cache is in great shape. Took one TB, left the other.

According to Project-gc, my avg distance from home is 473 km (293.909 mi). With 1,870 finds (at the last run of my project-gc stats), that yields 549,609.83 miles. Thanks for placing this challenge!

Signed this log back in 2014 sometime when I only had 34.4K miles, but now am up to 311,850 miles according to GSAK as of today. Guess I will need to keep on pressing!

Out with Olive today. We were in this area for the new BIG POTATO cache. I have had all these challenge caches on a list for a long time. I was waiting until I qualified for all of them before I grabbed them. Today I was in the area so I went ahead and grabbed the ones that I already qualify for. These are my stats according GSAK.
