An ADVENTURE Cache in Pike National Forest near a Wilderness Boundary.

READ THIS DESCRIPTION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an adventure type cache. You will need some "umph" to get to it.
Out near the Wig Wam trail head for Lost Creek Wilderness is a curious tall round stand alone mountain on the north side of Wig Wam Creek and the trail head. The cache is ontop of that mountain!
The verticle gain to get to the cache is 1250 feet in a scant 1.5 miles. The cache is near the Wilderness Boundary. I wanted to put it near the actual peak, but in respect for the wilderness I placed it a little east of it.

CRITICLE POINTS:
1) Do not follow your GPS directly to the cache. Make the sumit first !! You will have to do some route finding. (I attacked the mountain from the SE corner and pushed NW.) When you top out, easily follow the GPS to the cache.
2) There is NO TRAIL. Route finding is on your own. No climbing, no ropes, maybe a scramble or two depending how you get to the top.
3) Allow 5 or so hours for the average person (in good shape) for the round trip, and enjoying the top side. It's Cool !

SOFT POINTS:
1) West of the cache is a bonus for the trip. This "Unamed Peak" has a sign in log. You will see the high point (apx 1/8 mile) west on this mountain top accrross a saddle in the rocks. The Peak Log is at: N39*15.308 // W105*21.576
You will get a great "Peek" into Lost Creek Wilderness. Technically this high point IS the Wilderness boundary.
2) On the way to the Peak Log is an old crystal dig. You may fine some nice stuff there :-)
3) The cache is in a blue power aide container. Since you are breaking your butt to get to it, I made it fairly easy to find. Remember the hint, and there is a pic of the hint here.
Good spot to sit and look south and east, protected from prevailing breezes from the west.
4)EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS:
Plenty of water and sun screen
Food
Strudy hiking shoes(STEEP Loose terrain)
Hiking Poles (awesome to assist up & control down)

You Sir have earned a favorite point for this cache waaaaay out in the middle of nowhere! You see, I needed this cache to close out a double fizzy challenge I have been pursuing for a while now and this weekend, today specifically, was the time to do it!! There could not have been a finer cache to pursue in the effort to close out this challenge!! Love the location of the cache! What a point in space to see the Hayman fire destruction up close and personal!! The rocks were awesome to crawl around. The crystal dig was fun to poke around. The actual peak log was found and signed. Had to avoid the swarm of flying carpenter ants, I believe, up near the actual peak. What a trek up here! Crazy steep!! However, once you crest the top, it is all worth it! The two pens in the cache actually still wrote!! After signing the log, I put it back in the well hidden and protected spot the previous two cachers placed it! May it not be another almost two years before she is found again!!

To think, I was down at Pikes Peak in Devils Playground and at Sentinel Point last weekend, which you can see from here, and could see this point! Now, I was on the opposite end of the camera lens and could see there from here! Pretty damn awesome!!

The double fizzy challenge is complete and I see you Sir have two more locally that will fit nicely into the triple fizzy challenge! That is for another day and time in space!! Cache on!!

When WingsAndTales and I sat down to enjoy the views after finding the cache, I commented that I wished the cache owner would place more caches like this. I just looked up your caches and was surprised to discover that I'd already done two of them...Cheese Man and Jeep Trap (back in 2010)...both of them an adventure. WingsAndTales has been pushing this one for a long time and I'm glad I let her talk me into it. Special cache for her as she now qualifies for a double digit Fizzy Challenge. That means she's found 10 caches in each of the 81 D/T grid combinations. Thank you for another fun adventure. A favorite.

I have been looking at this cache for quite a while now. It got to the point where this was the last cache I needed to 10 or better in all the squares of my D/T grid. I conned estes01 into making the trek with me and I thought I had a good route planned. We ran into more rocks than I thought we would on the way up but managed to find a better way down that avoided most of them. The view from up there was impressive. It has to be one of the most complete views of the extent of the Hayman fire damage. It was a great spot to have lunch and take it all in. The cache was in great shape even after going 3+ years without a find. TFTC

Spivey, Titocacher and I headed out for this special cache to help us out with a challenge. The weather was perfect which helped us make quick work of it. We choose a good route with minimal rocks and fairly easy bushwacking but there is no way to avoid the steepness of this mountain. Thanks for the great views!
