Day 2 of an epic 6 day journey out to the western frontier. I had some vacation time that I needed to burn up by the end of the year, and what better way to use it than to go Geocaching! My main goal was to find caches in New Mexico and Nevada, which would complete my map in the western US. The rest of the 4 remaining states are on the East Coast. Secondary goals were to find oldies, mostly virtuals, and high favorited caches. The only bad part of the trip was that it rained every single day of my vacation.

I headed south out of MN on Sunday and returned home on Friday.
Sunday - Drive all the way through to Colorado (15 hours!)
Monday - Cache in and around Denver and Colorado Springs, with an attempt at Pike's Peak (closed at Mile 14)
Tuesday - Head south towards GC19 and then west through Wolf Creek Pass
Wednesday - Four Corners monument and west towards Nevada
Thursday - After a night in Richfield, UT, head east through the skiing areas of Colorado towards Nebraska
Friday - The long drive home

Thanks to all the cache owners for placing these caches for me to find and for keeping the oldies going all these years.

Choice of two roads west. Chose the wrong one on a day with no time to unwind the effort. Maybe another day.

On a Fall trip through Colorado doing some caching and seeing the sites. A beautiful scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. Visiting the downtown areas of Boulder, Denver, Castle Rock and Colorado Springs to name a few. We enjoyed a beautiful hike on the Barr trail at the Summit of Pikes Peak. It was a wonderful trip with quite a bit of caching thrown in along the way.
We arrived at the entrance this morning and were second in line. When the ranger came by to talk with us they recommended we go straight to the top as there was an 80% chance of snow. We took her advice. We had sun on the way up and during our hike then the clouds rolled in and we endured snow, hail, sleet and rain on the way down. This made for an interesting day of caching with all the stops, but we survived and had fun.

I am on vacation in the USA for a while and on the road I take the opportunity to make some discoveries of caches in each of the regions and states that I visit.
May 11 is dedicated to driving from Denver Colorado to Colorado Spring and visiting Pikes Peak. AN ADVENTURE.
Some virtual caches on the road and on the mountain and also an Earthcache. As a bonus, a traditional cache.
Most of the traditional caches are quite easy to locate.
Thanks to the depositors of caches that make us discover your beautiful region.

Found with dispatch on my trip to the Rocky Mountain State.

Super cold day.  Answers are ringing their way through the interwebs as I type.

I am so high in the windy sun,
On the rock-boned back of the highest thing,
That the mountains under me, every one,
Are but wrinkled gestures . . . westering.
Green-robed those little mountains pass,
Like rabbits under piles of grass.

The undelivered sky, vein-ripped in pain
Of crackled lightning, underneath the skin,
Still holds her throbbing thunder-burden in,
Too drugged to hate or fear or love the rain.

Over the moth-white vapor of hail, clinging the world where the storm had run,
I saw a thousand mountains rise,
Where the sun had let me see but one.

Indigo-slippered, acre-wide,
curving the mountain meadowside,
Walking the silver hill with me ...
I saw you step in the aspen tree.

Thanks for bringing me here.

Day three of our four day trip to CO/NE/KS and after driving all around Kansas for virtuals and other caches today we headed into Colorado Springs to start our day. We plan on more of the same with virtuals in mind along with puzzles I have solved and other sweet grabs along the way as we head North. Thanks to all the COs who placed and maintain these caches for us to enjoy. If I haven't already done so, I will be sending the answers for any caches that require them for the both of us by the end of the night when back at the hotel. Thanks!!

Day 15 of our 24 day geocaching road trip from San Diego to Colorado Springs. This was our second day in the area. Plans were to go to Pike's Peak today, but top was closed due to high winds. So we continued up the road on the way to Tarryall. On our way back to town, we stopped by for an afternoon walk around Manitou.
First stop was across the street for a quick bit of lunch before heading down the road. Found parking near chocolate shop (we tried the chocolate cheesecake truffle) then walked and tried water from all the springs.
After the walk, we checked out the other WPs before heading down the hill.
