Just off of Rifle Range road, past both old quarries. It is recommended to have a 4-wheel drive, or good sturdy walking shoes. With a 4-wheel drive, you can get to within 50 feet of it. Turn off highway 160 onto Rifle Range Rd. at N 37 38.676 W 106 16.121, go past the rifle range and follow the trails.
We hid this green ammo container in the rocks in one of our favorite areas to play around in. We even got the Jeep stuck once and had to winch out. We were taking the hard way to get there though, so a winch in not mandatory. Without a 4-wheel drive, you will not be able to drive to it- so bring your walking shoes. The area is very rocky, and there are 2 old rock quarries that you will pass before you get there. In the cache we included a log book with a pencil and sharpener, a Grand Lake 4X4 video, dog tennis balls, a package of glow sticks, a Hot Wheels car, a set of fresh batteries for your GPS, the Fire Ducky Travel Bug, and a First To Find bonus of a Signal Pin/Yellow Jeep. Have fun finding it!

Loved this cache and When Pigs Fly nearby. Pretty straightforward 4WD drive to just beyond the quite amazing quarries. We parked there, though probably could have made the short, somewhat difficult, stretch in our Tacoma. That was good, anyway, because the walk was great. Not too far from the cache we spotted the single track mountain bike trail near the old road, and hiked that to the point nearest the cache, and from there it was easy except for the cache location itself (which really wasn't all that hard). Make sure to take a look at the western of the two quarries. The welded ashflow tuff here would have made good building stone in all likelihood. TFTC

Took the truck part way in then walked the last 1/3 mile. It was fun to see that two very young ladies that I know have signed the log (I did not know they were cachers). From here I went cross country on foot to When Pigs Fly. I don't recommend that.

Picked this one up on our way into find "when pigs fly" which we did not find.
This was nice easy find and took nothing but did sign the log.

This one was tricky. In part because the compass on c:geo kept freezing on my phone. But found it with my GF after a bit of wondering in circles. We decided to play it safe and hike in the last 1.2km (sorry, c:geo doesn't do US measurements apparently). Did fine until we lost the road. But did find it. Beautiful, rugged scenery around.

Some of the surrounding terrain on the hike there.
