This was fun. You weren't kidding about that first/last step. It was definitely easier to climb up. The cache at the top was really well put together. TNLN. The views were the real treasure here. TFTC! Amazing!

Whew!! Took the kids for several trips to Castle Rock and have climbed NEARLY to the top three times and didn't know there was a cache on it before getting into geocaching. The very last stretch caused me several scrapes, Mr. Billybob was the one that made it to the summit to find the container. What an awesome cache, the container was very fitting for Castle Rock. Signed the log but forgot our trade items at the truck.

67 years young and celebrating annual Mother's Day adventure with my two sons geocaching a new area for us west of Debeque. Did a loop ride in our jeep and found ten great hides but this one was the corker! Parked way down below the base and hiked around it looking for the easiest way to start the base climb which is fairly steep. The west side of the base was littered with huge boulders and as we traversed those, we accidently found the old cache container which had been long lost and reported as missing by the last loggers. Found that the east side is much easier to ascend the base and then rounded the castle to the west side and soon found the crevice which really is the only way to make it to the top. The first part is really a giant step for mankind but luckily we had brought a rope which did help. Crawling up the last edge brought us to a brand new wonderful cache container...a very heavy metal castle complete with turrets and a moat entrance! Wow...had brought another container up in a backpack just in case one needed to be left for the future but was not necessary. had to lower it back down by rope. Celebrated a staggering climb and find with a beer! Left Quartzsite Camel Pin and a dollar bill. Even made it back down with just scrapes on the knees. Hope more folks take a chance on coming to this remote area and finding a treasure trove of caching. Have included pictures of the climb and cache.
