3 TUNNEL CACHE

This cache is at the west end of Canon City on Tunnel Drive. The first 500 or so feet are a steep grade. The rest is a smooth grade. Could walk or ride a bike. It is less than half an hour from the parking lot to the cache. This is a neat walk if you haven't been here before, or even if you have.
The cache is located in a green ammo can. The cache contains a couple of new quarters, pack of flower seeds, 2 - USA Flags, bracelets and necklaces that the little guys made for this. There is a camera so please take a pic while you are there. There are other treasures that I can't recall. Watch out for cacti off the trail. This is at the bottom end of the Royal Gorge, so depending on the time of the year, you will see rafters, kayakers and trains going by.

 Hints

If you reach the second bridge you have gone to far. Go back about 300 ft. to the first gulley before the bridge. Go up the gulley and it is at the base of a rock outcropping. The cache is covered with frag rock.

Second find of the day after a 1000 day hiatus from caching. Nice little hike off of a good area trail. TFTC

A little harder to find when you hike the wrong hill, but good one.

Out for a walk with a bunch of good friends and needed a cache along the way. This one made the list. Quick and easy find. Cache is in great shape. TFTC SL

The hillside made the signal inaccurate and I got very tired looking quickly. My medium sized dog got stuck in the tangleweeds going back to the road. I could only see his tail wag when I called him.

Thanks for the fun cache!

Kerewin0430 and I were in the area to get the Soda Fountain cache. What an epic adventure that was! We had passed these caches on the way in as we needed to keep on schedule to beat the train. But on the way back we took a much more leisurely pace.

Found this one without too much trouble. It ended up being the first of many "walking stick" cactus that managed to stick into me! I have another name for these evil evil things... Not appropriate... Lol! Signed the log and replaced as found. All is well here. Thanks again for placing this along such a nice trail!

Stopped for this one on the way back from Soda Fountain. What a great day of caching with RPieperCO! He got some nasty cactus stuck in his leg on the way to this one! Thanks for placing this one!

We sure enjoyed our hike along the tunnel drive. Glad we used sunscreen today. The hide was fairly easy to find, we just had to wait for a muggle that stood at the bottom of the ravine for a long time watching us. Finally he moved on and we were able to grab this smiley. Tftc.
