Shane had a day off from his ranch.  He loved to look for old Indian ruins and study their art and culture.  A ranch hand told him that a fire had burned away a patch of brush on a hill not too far east of Cortez and that the newly exposed rock face had petroglyphs of animals and kokopelli dancers.  Shane took off to take a look not knowing that a blizzard was headed his way. 
As Shane got close to the fire zone, he slid off his horse and tied the gelding to a strong cedar tree. He soon found the site the ranch hand had described. As he approached the petroglyphs, the ground gave away and Shane fell into a dark underground room injuring his leg in the fall. Shane had some matches and lit one where he could see the room had paintings on the walls, a fire pit and some pottery. It was a ceremonial chamber. Suddenly the storm hit outside with howling wind, wet snow and hail. Shane decided to try to hold up until the storm blew over. He used some of the wood from the collapsed roof to make a fire and when the fire started to go out, Shane found some plants and herbs in the clay pots to use as tinder to rekindle the flames. Smoke swirled inside the room and soon Shane was starting to hallucinate seeing visions of dancing warriors, running cattle and bucking horses. The visions became stronger and stronger and half out of his mind Shane crawled out in the blinding snowstorm and tried to find his horse. The horse had pulled loose and run back to the ranch. The cowboys from the ranch found Shane the next day and he had already gone to meet his maker. The cowboys looked inside the ceremonial chamber and found that Shane had been breathing smoke from peyote, a strong hallucinogenic used by the Anasazi medicine man. They cowboys said, "Vaya Con Dios, Shane".

The cache is an ammo can with lots of SWAG.  It also has a shark trackable.

We are on our way to Yuma, AZ coming from BC, Canada. Today, we were driving from Provo, UT and arrived in Cortez, CO to spend the night and have some time to do more geocaching. We picked up a few of the Comboy's series. Some nice hiding spots and caches. Nice view. TFTC.
